"... possibly the best new writer in this subgenre." (Library Journal)
This is a great story with fabulous characters, but is produced by Christian book company. Wish I would have known that. I was not comfortable with the numerous religious/spiritual references in the story.
Award-winning & Amazon bestselling author of Christian historical romance. Under contract with Pelican Book Group. Blogger, mom, & reader.
Susan May Warren teaches about the "Why nots" for a hero and heroine getting together and the two in this story have some of the most why nots I've seen in a book in some time! Yet Tamera Alexander expertly helps us see how this unlikely couple might indeed end up together in the end. I saw there were 200+ reviews of the book on Amazon and there is a reason for that! Great narration, too, by Robin Miles. I was so very glad I had this book to listen to while I was recently ill--I'd thought I'd listen to all of Tamera's books after I started listening to them about a year ago. Was I ever glad to discover that this gem hadn't yet been "read" by me.
I loved the way Tamera Alexander painted the scene so you felt like you were standing across the valley from the cliff-dwellings or looking at the twin sister mountains to the Rockies. I could imagine myself out west, being a pioneer along with her characters. The book remained suspenseful without seeming forced and her characters were inspirational, giving me quotes to remember and live by.
I loved this book and enjoyed listening to parts of it with my children.
This is a wonderful series. Sorry when each book ended. I only wish the returuning character in each book would have stronger roles. You really get to know each one from previous novels, and want to hear from them again. While Robin Miles did a good job, I would like to hear Ms Alexander's novels read by Tavia Gilbert. She's terrific at bring a story to life!
Josiah's wisdom. Good ending. Like a good mystery, but don't want to give anything away, lol
Yes, I love all of the series so far.
Looking forward to the next book in the series.
