Publisher's summary

When female wolf shifter Taryn Warner first encounters Trey Coleman, an alpha male wolf shifter with a dangerous reputation, she’s determined to resist his charms. After all, Trey - who was only fourteen when he defeated his own father in a duel, winning the right to be alpha of his pack - can’t have anything to offer the talented healer besides trouble, or so she thinks. Taryn finds herself drawn in by Trey’s forceful demeanor and arctic-blue eyes, and she eventually agrees to enter an uneasy alliance with him. If the two succeed in convincing their respective packs that they’ve chosen each other as mates, Trey will win valuable political allies, while Taryn will escape an odious arranged mating.

But there are a lot of potential pitfalls to this plan - including the very real possibility that the wolf shifters, overwhelmed by their growing attraction to each other, will be unable to maintain the clear heads needed to pull off the deception.

Surprised they didn't check my ID

This is not the first time I've looked over at my partner in the middle of a book and declared "This is Porn....", but this is probably the best time.

Usually books like this one, that are beginning to redefine both paranormal fantasy and the bodice ripper genre, are written so that I just want them to be over with so I can enjoy the good bits and stop cringing in between. Not true of this story!

There was enough interesting plot and non relationship tension to make this book a book I would have wanted to read even if it hadn't been for the INCREDIBLY steamy scenes between the two leads. There were also quite a few very funny lines and quips.

The only thing I didn't like about the book was that some of the secondary characters veered pretty far into "stick figures with a schtick" territory. Most of the time this was still fairly amusing, but sometimes I just really wanted them to shut up.

Jill Redfield did a great job of bringing across the main characters voice, and reading the steamier bits without distracting from what was going on. I always feel like the best narrators are the ones you don't notice, and so I guess she did a great job, because she only made the story better.

Overall, totally worth my credit, but I will not make the mistake of listening to any more of her books with my car windows down again! Hi Kids!

One of my ultimate favorite PNR Series....

If you love a good paranormal romance series than I insist you buy this book. I was starting to worry that I had burned myself out with this genre but thanks to Suzanne Wright/ Jill Redfield I found I was pleasantly mistaken. I was intrigued from the very beginning. This series will not disappoint you especially if you like sexy alphas, passion, dominance, and even fun snarkiness between characters. Worth credit!!!!

Sooooo.. enjoyable (4.5)

This is the one if you like humor, sex and a paranormal plot. This is not for you if you have any problems with raw, sexual language—though I’ve eagerly listened to more and, thus, find the amount here not much—and humor through snide interplay or insults between characters. For some, the heroine could be irritating b/c she’s very, very snide and so determined to appear bigger in nature, what some would call a hard a**. But I enjoyed her. It’s also a love story that’s plausible. I was sad to see there are no other audible books by this author. I really enjoyed this book, including the narrator. Her work was not the best I’ve heard, and I’ve heard a looooooooot of books. But she worked well with this content.

Oh, come on pearl clutchers, that was funny!

“And just which dwarf are you?”
Sweet stormtrooper, that was funny and raunchy and everything I love about paranormal romance!
I’m late to the party because I generally find that any longer than 10 hours in this genre bogs down.
That, and some of the reviews faulted the non-consent stuff and the smut-overload.
Now I’m both kicking myself for passing these up and stoked there’s plenty of books by this author.

“There were a few ways she could handle her first few moments with the pack. One, she could …
two, … or three, she could just be her usual ray of sarcastic, F ing sunshine …
A bigger person would have gone with option two. But, well, she was a B.”
Snarky leading ladies are so much fun. Even better: the comedy is strong with the supporting cast.
Who knew trading insults with grandma could be so much fun?

“With alphas, submission has to be earned, not taken.”
For what it’s worth, I don’t like Dark Romance. Shifter romance glorifying dubious consent is not for me. However, shifter romance that plays on animal instincts and has fun with a ‘who’s the bigger alpha’ flirtation is totally my thing, especially if the camp and the vamp are strong.
I never at any point felt she was unwilling.

“You’re a nympho.”
And yes, the reviews were right: there were eight mouthy, dom-y, finger-y and butt-ery scenes starting a little past the two hour mark. Are people really complaining about more bang for their buck? 😜

“A few fries short of a happy meal.”
I suppose I could find fault with some stuff. The jealous ex plot was very high school juvenile. The endless belaboring about her being latent was way overdone (and a heavy handed setup if ever there was one). But isn’t rolling with the eye roll part of the fun with these popcorn listens? Excuse me as I grab some more popcorn and move on to book 2.

feral sins

Where does Feral Sins rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book ranks among my top five. The humor was first rate. The characters are memorable. Ms. Redfield did a great job.

Which character – as performed by Jill Redfield – was your favorite?

Taryn is strong, profane and funny.

Predictable

Its books like these that make me think I could be a successful writer. Its very formulaic and cliche. I didn't dislike it enough to stop listening but guaranteed I'm not getting anything by this author again.

Lots of banging, the adult version of “Twilight”

So it should be known ahead of time that this “supernatural” thriller could easily fit on the shelf next to Fifty Shades of Grey; in fact a better name of the book may have been Fifty Shades of Wolf. It is a pretty decent story full of good characters but my only complaint there is that there are sooo many of them - there’s the alpha, the alpha’s lady, the beta, the beta’s lady, enforcers, enforcers ladies, guards and guards’ ladies, and so on and so forth. I may listen to the second one but I won’t be paying full price for it. Only if for a sale like this one here was that I picked up. I’d say that this is easily the adult, very adult version of Twilight for sure. So if you liked those books and those movies when you were slightly younger, add 5-7 years of time and maturation in between and now you’ve got this series. Perfect for the young adult turned true adult.
