Publisher's summary

When female wolf shifter Taryn Warner first encounters Trey Coleman, an alpha male wolf shifter with a dangerous reputation, she’s determined to resist his charms. After all, Trey - who was only fourteen when he defeated his own father in a duel, winning the right to be alpha of his pack - can’t have anything to offer the talented healer besides trouble, or so she thinks. Taryn finds herself drawn in by Trey’s forceful demeanor and arctic-blue eyes, and she eventually agrees to enter an uneasy alliance with him. If the two succeed in convincing their respective packs that they’ve chosen each other as mates, Trey will win valuable political allies, while Taryn will escape an odious arranged mating.

But there are a lot of potential pitfalls to this plan - including the very real possibility that the wolf shifters, overwhelmed by their growing attraction to each other, will be unable to maintain the clear heads needed to pull off the deception.

A Very Enjoyable Suprise!!

I was trying to find a book to take up some of the time until one of my favorite authors comes out with something new when I came across this book. The description only mildly interested me and at the time I didn't find anything else so I gave this book a chance and BOY am I glad I did. If you liked Thea Harrison's Elder Race series, then I think you will like this one as well. Taryn reminds me of Pia and Trey kind of reminds me of Dragos.

Taryn and Trey make a deal to help each other out with a problem of their own and it turns into something much more. Taryn has had to battle all her life because of her "handicap" and Trey has fought all his life because of his past. Together they make each other stronger and each over comes their problems.

There are a lot of strong supporting character and a good story line. I liked the added insight into werewolf packs and politics. There is a lot of fast paced action and some very sexy parts as well. I look forward to books on the rest of the characters.

Suzanne Wright as author and Jill Redfield as narrator are both new to me and both did a great job with this book. I will be looking for other books by both of them.

Orgy is gone!

Porn with some shifter story thrown in. The subsequent books have better arcs, although the males tend to have similar character traits. It’s been years since I’ve read the series but Trey and Taryn will grow on you as they appear on the other books. I like the female counterparts better. So if you have the patience, the stories get better down the line. Practice makes progress. 😊

I now have another favorite author

Where does Feral Sins rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This was an excellent book. I normally dont write reviews, but felt I had to share for this book and this series (even tho it's only on book 2 as I write this).

What other book might you compare Feral Sins to and why?

It reminded me a little of J. D. Tyler's books. Very carnal and sexy.

What does Jill Redfield bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I think she did a very good job. She's very good at using different voices to differentiate the characters and doesnt slip up on them like some voice actors do. And yes, I'm calling her a voice actor because of how well she read this book. She really put feeling and life and emotion to the words. If a line stated that the character laughed, she says the line laughing, if they had tears in their voice, she does that too. I think she did a very good job. It's sometimes hard to do books like this because sometimes the sex scenes can come off as odd or cheesy depending on how the reader reads it, but it didnt really in these. And that's important in a book like this.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Oh definitely. I would have but it got to be 3am and I still had 3 hours left and I had to sleep. Put it right back on first thing in the morning tho!

Any additional comments?

Im going to be very blunt with this. If you are prudish at all, dont get this book. If no inhibitions, a** play, f'ing hard, dominant/submissive, dirty talk, words like c**k, p***y, or a lot of cussing makes you blush, dont get this. Basically if you find this section hard to read, dont get this book. If, like me, you find such things intriguing, DEFINITELY get this book. You wont regret it. Honestly, I cant believe it was so cheap. I didnt even have to spend a credit on it because it was less than $10. And it was worth every single penny. This is a book I will listen to over and over again...as long as I make sure I've got headphones when I do ;)

What is my freaking problem?

What made the experience of listening to Feral Sins the most enjoyable?

I bought this book some time ago, and I will admit- I'm a finicky woman and sometimes book covers will just rub me the wrong way. I think that was the case here, because once I got started I could not stop listening. I could not stop listening to: go to the bathroom, go to the grocery store, go for a walk (only sane time), and even to bed. So let us get to the reason why this book was so good. It was hilarious, but not with the really crappy one liners that belong on bumper stickers and T's at Hot Topic. No, the main characters had a sense of humor through life's B.S. Plus the heroine was strong and NEVER needed to be saved. She wasn't the "little missus waiting for her time to blossom", bleh. And the hero was well, an alpha male dealing with an alpha female. Plot-wise, this is a romance book and not a thriller. For the most part the author could keep some tension and fun action scenes in a hot and heavy love story. Be forewarned, if you are not into explicit sex, foul language, and erotic play especially dealing with light BDSM and erotic themed content, this book is not for you. And if you do then read it and go "aw-my-gawd this book is so dirty" while laughing the fat cells off your butt. Well at least I hope that's what I'm doing.

Easy listen

A great easy listen not much concentration required. The only issue I had was the sexual content either do it well or leave it out. The way these were written cheapened the otherwise good read

Yummy Feral Sins

Feral Sins was fun, loved the sarcasm and SEX. I the heroine was a bit extra at times but that is so much better than being the usual doormat. I LOVED how dominant he was and fractured emotionally. GREAT summer read that made me laugh out loud and look ridiculous in public.

A really good shifter series.

I like the writing and narration of this book. I read or listen to several shifter series, and they range from formulaic through pretty decent (this series fits that) to outstanding (Nalini Singh's Psy-Changling series is my all time favorite). This is a good series opener with engaging characters and a believable paranormal world. The characters are strong, and I like the relationships between the pack members. It's credit worthy and enjoyable.

Can't play with the big dogs

I am going to review Feral Sins and Wicked Cravings together since they are both available on Audible right now. Also, they are basically the same story - only the H/h names are different.

I really like erotic romances with sexy alpha males. After reading so many 5-star reviews for this series, I couldn't wait to get my credits so I could get these 2 books. My first listen of Feral Sins was probably a very hot 4-star experience, so I got Wicked Cravings, too.

After listening to each book a second time, I realized that these books are not very well written (in addition to being the same story recycled). The clumsy writing caused Jill Redfield's performance to suffer (compared to her performance in the Crossfire series).

Her performance was hindered by horrendous sentence structure throughout the book. It seemed like she couldn't make sense of what she was reading from time to time. Her recitation was awkward in many places, which made listening to these books a bit unsatisfying. When the sentences don't flow properly, I get distracted trying to figure out what is actually being said. Consequently, I have to rewind and listen to those passages again so that I can stay in sync with the story. This is very frustrating when you listen to an audiobook.

Another thing I noticed about Redfield's performance was that she lost her characters' voices from time to time (especially Dante). She definitely has a good range of voices at her command, so I can only assume that the poor writing was making it difficult for her to stay in character as she was reading.

The sarcasm was a bit too much. It's fine to use some witty snark from time to time, but most of the sarcasm in these 2 books was very childish and got extremely boring. The pick-up lines that Dominic used were also overdone. These 2 issues made me feel like I was listening to books written for teens, which was in sharp contrast to the sexual content of the story.

As for the story line, it was okay the first time around, but when I listened to Wicked Cravings, I felt cheated. It was obvious that Ms. Wright developed a formula (and not a very original one at that) and just changed a few details for Wicked Cravings. Even the "hot, tight and wet" mantra was there in all the same places as it was in Feral Sins. Dirty talk is great, but have some imagination! Change it up from one book to the next.

The characters were fairly well developed. I liked them enough to want them to have their HEA's, but I didn't feel tremendously invested in any of them. It would be a good idea to tone Greta down as time goes by. Maybe even let her die from old age.

I will probably get the next book because I follow the "3 strikes and you're out" policy. Also, I know that if I really don't like it, I can get a refund from Audible.
