A New York Times Best Seller

To want what you’re not supposed to have....

She is only 19. She is his new stepfather’s daughter. She is still nave and innocent due to spending the last three years taking care of her sick mother. But for 24-year-old Rush Finlay, she is the only thing that has ever been off limits. His famous father’s guilt money, his mother’s desperation to win his love, and his charm are the three reasons he has never been told no.

Blaire Wynn left her small farmhouse in Alabama after her mother passed away, to move in with her father and his new wife in their sprawling beach house along the Florida Gulf Coast. She isn’t prepared for the lifestyle change, and she knows she’ll never fit into this world. Then there is her sexy stepbrother, who her father leaves her with for the summer while he runs off to Paris with his wife. Rush is as spoiled as he is gorgeous. He is also getting under her skin. She knows he is anything but good for her and that he’ll never be faithful to anyone. He is jaded and has secrets Blaire knows she may never uncover but even knowing all of that... Blaire just may have fallen too far.

Just OK

I knew going into this book it what type of story this would be. Cheesy story line, obvious plot line, with a good amount of sex. I just finished a more intellectual read and needed to give my brain a break. This book did just that. It was interesting enough to keep me reading but definitely doesn’t make you think. A good beach read. I enjoyed it enough, but probably not enough to read the second book in the series.

Weak performance. Generally weak story

The narrator lacked any emotion or voice inflection when she preformed the main protagonist's voice, Blare. The other voices seemed more natural an less contrived. The story was weak until the end, when everything came out to light. The insta-love between Blare and Rush, was almost impossible to believe or relate to. I'm going to continue with the series only to see how if it improves and if Blare gets her peace. But other than that. There isn't much to the story to keep me enthralled.

Not too bad. I didn't mind it

This wasn't one of those books where I fall in love with the characters, it was just okay. This book was kind of short, so i get where there isn't a lot of character development and build up, but there could have been a little more of that and a little less of the stuff that is said in the sex scenes. I don't know how many times i thought "Did he really just say that". Don't get me wrong. I love steamy and romantic, but some of it was kind of out there and cheesy. The twist at the end though was a nice build-up. Overall it was 'okay' Not her best, but i liked the story line enough to read the rest of the series.

Addicting...but annoying story

There was a lot not to like about this book-the writing, the characters (yes I'm talking about Rush) and Blaire's vulnerability (yet she owns a gun and apparently knows how to use it). There was just too much to eye-roll about for the plot or people to be authentic in anyway. However, it was addicting and I really liked the narrator's voice with her smooth southern drawl. It kept me listening while working out, weeding, cleaning etc. and that's what I want an audiobook for.

Pretty Good

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

was a good love story - enjoyed the book and narration. only thing that was a little annoying (Semi Spoiler here): was the fact that everyone fawned over Nan because her dad left her and her mom when she was a baby - as if that's the most tragic thing that could ever happen to someone and they will be forever crippled because of it? I am familiar with this sort of situation and it was a little overkill. I was expecting some sort of epic tragedy to have happened and it was kind of ridiculous.

One of my favorites but...

This is one of my favorite books, I'm a sucker for Rush! Love him! But the reader of this book is just so monotone, I don't even know if that's the right why to say it it's just awkward and you can tell she's reading its just doesn't sound natural.

Seriously?!?!?!? Where's the end of this story??

Before I bash the ending of this book I have to say I really liked it. Based on a review I saw, I decided to give it a try, and although its more 'Young Adult' than what I typically listen to, I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the romance between the two main characters. All that said, the ending left me feeling robbed! I'm not sure what the author was thinking, but, NEWSFLASH!---A BOOK SHOULD BE WITHIN A SERIES OR HAVE AN ENDING WITH SOME CLOSURE!--The fact that this book offers neither, is very disappointing. There are a few books by this author and I may get one of the others to see if this 'bad ending' nonsense is her signature...I guess I'm a glutton for punishment :-)

WOW!

I was apprehensive about this book at first because of only one narrator and I love hearing a male and female speaking for each part. So I was totally caught off guard when I started listening to her be multiple characters. I am not sure if I have ever heard her before but WOW! She was amazing in my opinion!! I could hear her as Blair and as Rush and all the other characters she voiced for.

I loved this story. It was sad, happy (in places), funny, and definitely frustrating with the banter! I can't wait to hear the next book and hope that Blair and Rush can end up being happy together. Eventhough he has lied he was a broken boy that has fell in love and as his heart broke my broke for him.....and for Blair. I really hope she can heal and find her way back to him.

I guess we shall see....
