A New York Times Best Seller

To want what you’re not supposed to have....

She is only 19. She is his new stepfather’s daughter. She is still nave and innocent due to spending the last three years taking care of her sick mother. But for 24-year-old Rush Finlay, she is the only thing that has ever been off limits. His famous father’s guilt money, his mother’s desperation to win his love, and his charm are the three reasons he has never been told no.

Blaire Wynn left her small farmhouse in Alabama after her mother passed away, to move in with her father and his new wife in their sprawling beach house along the Florida Gulf Coast. She isn’t prepared for the lifestyle change, and she knows she’ll never fit into this world. Then there is her sexy stepbrother, who her father leaves her with for the summer while he runs off to Paris with his wife. Rush is as spoiled as he is gorgeous. He is also getting under her skin. She knows he is anything but good for her and that he’ll never be faithful to anyone. He is jaded and has secrets Blaire knows she may never uncover but even knowing all of that... Blaire just may have fallen too far.

Enjoyable love story with no real ending

I have no idea why I liked this book, but I did. Despite the major plot holes and ridiculous storyline I still enjoyed this one. It hooked me from the start and I couldn’t stop listening. Unfortunately, there is no real ending with this book. I didn’t realize this was the start of another series so it ends with a big cliffhanger. I had planned to get the next book but it’s not available on Audible. What a bummer…

Overall I give this a 4 star rating since I really enjoyed it from start to (almost) finish.

Its not! there are two more books out and Audibles make sure you get them ASAP! I loved Rush he was the bad boy that you try to change. I dont want to give anything away but trust the book is a great buy and I not mad I bought it. Its a relisten any time.

Unnecessary angst

I liked the heroine of the story. I liked the hero of the story. However, this story, especially at the end, it was filled with unnecessary drama and angst and people acting stupidly. Then, the story ended abruptly with no resolution to the drama. No happy ending. Just, “you’ve hurt me with your lies so much that I can never live happily with you, and I will never love another man in my life because my heart belongs only to you and it will break without you!” (This coming from a 19 year old.) I dislike unnecessary drama and angst and stupidity. I am guessing you’re supposed to buy the next book to figure out what happened to the couple. And you probably have to listen through tons of extra unnecessary stupidity . Don’t waste your time.

Could be so much more

Rating 3.5

I enjoyed the concept of this story line. I feel like it could be amazing with more development, but there were a few things that reduced my score.

Not a fan of insta-love. Insta-lust? YES! insta-love? NO! I need a bit more "wiggle room" or build up that makes me want to fall for him too.

I'm also not a fan of the novella series. I don't understand why they are all split up outside of making more money. I would prefer a three book novella series to be made into a two book series with added development to the story. Perhaps there is a perfectly logical reason for the split up but I just don't know it.

Lastly the narrator for the audiobook was ok. It was sometimes difficult to determine if it was a male or female speaking. I really like when narrators are able to make definite choices with the characters. It helps to make it a really enjoyable listen.

Not going to "rush" into the next book even though I do want to find out what happens with Blair and Rush (great name for him by the way). I will read it just not feeling the need to find it immediately.

Why does it hurt so good?!?!

This was my first experience with an audiobook where I couldn't stop. The story is very angsty and well written. The narrator does a fantastic job and I found a hint of southern twang endearing... I LOLed so hard whenever she would narrate Rush saying "Sweet Blair" and long curse word "F-----uck" in a deep voice.

Already got the next book naught as an audible again... Can't get enough of the angsty angst and the blooming love between Blair and the always shirtless tattoo-covered rock-legend spawn Rush.

good story

I enjoyed the story but struggled with the narrator, she was very monotone and bland no emotion behind her reading.

A COMPELLING LOVE STORY WITH HEART AND PAIN

When I finished this book, I thought, "WHO THE HECK IS ABBI GLINES???"--Because she is one amazing writer! Damn, this woman can write a compelling love story that is so unique and touching that it will captivate your heart strings!

This book was more than sexy, it was emotionally binding due to the familial relationships that are beyond messed up. You might think that this book is about the coming of age of a young woman, but it's more than that. Blair is 19 years old and has lived a life that has brought her much pain, but it has also forged a wonderful character, within. This young woman is just breathtakingly beautiful, inside and out. Yes, she is a platinum blonde bombshell that all the young men salivate for, but it's more than that. She radiates a sweet tenderness and a resiliency that makes her a very strong female lead. I thought Blair was brave as hell, and I just wanted to see her find happiness and stability. Blair is also quite the southern bell and, overall, I thought she was just lovely. Now Rush…OMG… Rush is the only son of a famous rock star, is fabulously wealthy, a player who all women want, and it's evident that he's at the top of a social male hierarchy in his world and within his immediate family. He is well known for his crazy house parties and playboy lifestyle, but what I thought was most interesting is this general respect that all of the men have for him. Rush does have a temper and that may have something to do with it---Add to that his intricate, colorful tattoos and piercings and you have one hot male lead. OH THE RUSH!!!

I don't want to give one little detail about this book away because it's the type of book that should be experienced and not explained. When you purchase this audiobook, you might as well just purchase the whole series (well, at least the second book) because it certainly is not finished as it flows very quickly into the second book.

Narrator: I loved Jennifer Bronstein's performance!! She was excellent! She brought Blair's tenderness to life and Rush's strong character across very well. Sometimes, I felt as though she blended the male and female voices a bit, but never at the point of distracting from this emotional read.

LOVED THIS AUDIOBOOK!!! ON TO THE SECOND IN THE SERIES!!! I AM NOW A NEW FAN OF ABBI GLINES AND CAN'T WAIT TO READ OTHER BOOKS SHE'S WRITTEN!

Mixed Feelings

So this author is new to me.

The story was very well written. The characters were well fleshed out.

My complaint about it (on a purely personal level) is all the talk about the sickness. It just hit really close to home as was hard to hear it hashed out so much.

This also should have been dual narration. The female narrator did the female voices beautifully but wasn’t so grand on the male voices.

Also cliffhanger. But not a horrible one. Just a confusion that hit at the end of the book.
