Publisher's summary

Years ago while vacationing in Scotland, Katherine St. Claire believed she'd found the love of her life. She shared a night of passion with a stranger, in a hotel castle called Duncreag. But come morning, her lover had disappeared. And she has spent the last eight years trying to convince herself it was all a dream...

Living in the 15th century, Iain Mackintosh remains haunted by the memory of his greatest love. FINALLY! A GOOD STORY AND GOOD NARRATOR

The only criticism I have is that details were missing from the writing. like how did Jeff get Kittie back to New York when she was in the coma. things like that. how did the doctors revive her? did she bring the book back with her that jogged her memory. did her other possessions survive the trip back in time. etc. looking forward to reading the rest of the trilogy. really like the narrator on this book. usually men don't do so well. but he was great.

Well-told Time Travel

This Scottish time-travel novel offers unique plot twists, dramatic storyline along with lighthearted dialogue. Male narration is pleasant, but the accents are off. There are several moderately graphic sex scenes, but thankfully they are a very minor part of the novel.

Where are the other books

I love the book and also the free preview of Cottage in the Mist HOWEVER I can only find it in Kindle form not Audible?? Why give us a preview of something you don’t have available to buy? Please get the rest of this trilogy soon. I had to listen to the 3rd book in the series since the 2nd and 4th books are not available??

WOW love it!

for my fools heart and my need for time travel, the story is unmatched. Though through my almost 50 years in have only just begun my interest in fiction so my experience may be limited in the stories i have read. i would love this to be a movie, gave me a sense of somewhere in time only with more clues than a watch.

A nice listen.

The concept of time travel is fascinating fodder for writers and readers. No matter how carefully the writer tries to cover the bases, I'm always left with those "but what about..." questions that are fun to puzzle over after the book is finished. This was simply a nice read. I really wish there was a 10pt rating system, because I have scored some much better books with four stars, but this one is better than three stars. Let's say this would be a 7 out of 10 stars.

The story gets right to it. There's a time travel love scene in the first few minutes and the rest of the book is built on that encounter. Katherine is a likeable character, but not very complex. Iain is a handsome sixteenth Scottish Laird who is kind and brave etc. You have to have a soft spot for him because he actually gets very emotional contrary to the stereotypical Scottish romance hero. The story switches back and forth from Iain's time to the present, a device that can be confusing, but I thought the author handled it quite nicely.
A secondary romance develops between Katherine's brother Jeffrey and friend Elaine. This relationship is superfluous except that it does provide a necessary link at one point.

The story comes to a nice ending and is wrapped up with a handy dandy epilogue.

The narrator does a good job providing a variety of Scottish character's as well as Katherine and Jeffrey's American voices.

This is just about the romance between characters born 500+ years apart and makes no real attempt to explain how time travel happens. There are some lapses too (this changed as a result of travel, so why didn't that..?) Those kinds of pesky little details tend to distract me, but if you can let them go and just enjoy this story, it is pleasant.

Everything in its Own Time

I loved the story! it was a parallel to Outlander in several areas, with lots of people who had the same names, but I did enjoy the story.
I will be listening to the other two.

Pretty Good

This is a pretty good book. It could use a little more details, but overall it was
a good listen. The story left a lot of gaps you had to fill in on your own.

The best time travel novel!

This book had it all. An excellent narrator, laughter, tears, heroes, villains, betrayals, great characters and excellent story. This was the first time travel novel that I actually enjoyed from beginning to end.
Warning; Keep a box of tissues handy.

Any additional comments?

The narration wasn't bad at all. He has an engaging voice, and different characters actually sound different, without being affected and silly.

The book, however... Well, it's pretty much the standard time-travel highlander romance. Girl goes back in time, girl meets and falls in love with highlander, girl gets in trouble, and can't get out of it without being saved by a man. This girl is even more helpless than average, though, hence the mediocre review. A woman can receive help without being utterly helpless and foolish.

Won't be reading anything else from the author.
