He has stolen her past, but MacKayla will never allow her sister's murderer to take her future. Yet even the uniquely gifted sidhe-seer is no match for the Lord Master, who has unleashed an insatiable sexual craving that consumes Mac's every thought - and thrusts her into the seductive realm of two very dangerous men, both of whom she desires but dares not trust.

As the enigmatic Jericho Barrons and the sensual Fae prince V'lane vie for her body and soul, as cryptic entries from her sister's diary mysteriously appear and the power of the Dark Book weaves its annihilating path through the city, Mac's greatest enemy delivers a final challenge....
It's an invitation Mac cannot refuse, one that sends her racing home to Georgia, where an even darker threat awaits. With her parents missing and the lives of her loved ones under siege, Mac is about to come face-to-face with a soul-shattering truth - about herself and her sister, about Jericho Barrons...and about the world she thought she knew.

Sucked me in! I was sad to have it end!

Loved it. I especially loved the two narrators. They really brought the book to life.
Mac has it hard in this book. She's fights hard in this book. Gets captured, but fights her way back. Slowly. She and Barrons are hot together. Dani is a hoot. I can't wait to see her grow up.

Still enjoing the story.

Although I love the story. I still miss Joyce Bean telling the story. She had the ability of giving life to each individual character.

Great series, upgraded narration

I do really enjoy this series, and this book is well-written and well-narrated. The addition of a male voice has really improved listening pleasure. My only complaint is that there is not yet a resolution to this story after 4 books. I feel cheated.

Awesome Audio but plot&ending are frustrating

The audiobook was off-the-charts excellent! The 2 new narrators are amazing. They each give very distinct voices to all the characters (so you can always tell who is talking), full of emotion & truly bring them to life. It's like a live performance privately done for you. Unlike the prior female narrator, the men are now virile & sexy, & Mac now actually speaks at a believable pace (not so slow it annoys you) & with a real sounding southern accent not some overdone "thang" from a highschool play. The terrifying chainsaw voice for the Dark Book will scare you to your core! The interplay of the characters & timing of the actors is intense.

BTW, some reviewers on here have wrongfully critiqued the new female reader for mispronouncing Rowena's name or pronouncing it two different ways in the audio. The author specifically directed her in the pronunciations of "Rowena" & Ms. Ross says it right! The reason it varies at times is because the character Mac does mispronounce it at times, it's part of the plot.

As for the plot, (I'll try to write this generally without any plot spoilers, but it'll be harder to explain) I must be honest & say that I was frustrated & a lil disappointed with this book. I have to agree with others who have said this series should have been at most a 3 or 4 book series for solid content. There was little plot development this time. Unlike past books, this one is such an excerpt that you probably cannot just pick it up & read it as a stand alone without having read the others. You'd be totally lost. Frankly, even if you read the others, this one is so fantastical & jumps about, it's still a bit confusing. While I have been totally enjoying & loving the Fever series...after waiting so long for this book & knowing it'll be a year or more till the next, this book wasn't worth the wait.

This Series Rocks!

As with the other books in the "Fever" series, this book is well worth your time and credit. Well written, great plot, rich characters, action and creativity.

3 Cheers for the new narrator

This book takes the series up a gear or two. Mac has grown past the shallow young woman she was and is becoming the incredible woman that is her birthright. Lots of action and surpises in this more adult novel with a darker feel. I also enjoyed this a lot more with the new narration. It has more depth and range and the accents were better. I feel with men puported to be as powerful and dominating the use of a male voice added depth to the listening experience and made the verbal exchanges more enjoyable.

Note it has a huge cliffhanger. So if you have not already started it wait until the final book comes out on 18 Jan 2011 so you don't live in "fever hell" with the rest of us humans.

missed previous narrator

I enjoyed the book, but didn't like the female narrator. She had trouble keeping up the character's southern accent. Joyce Bean did a much better job.
