Publisher's summary

They call him the Devil....

He is the most notorious laird of Scotland: fierce, cold, deadly...and maybe even worse. Yet Evelinde has just agreed to wed him. Anything, she thinks, is better than her cruel stepmother. Though Evelinde should be wary of the rumors, she can't help but be drawn to this warrior...for the Devil of the Highlands inspires a heat within her that is unlike anything she has ever known.

They may call him whatever they wish, but Cullen, Laird of Donnachaidh, cares only for the future of his clan. He must find a wife, a woman to bear him sons and heed his commands. He has no need for beauty or grace, but one taste of his lovely bride's sweet lips and the sultry feel of her skin arouse an untamed passion. Perhaps there's more to marriage than he thought.

Fun, and simple

For some reason I am on a Lynsay Sands kick of late. While she's not the best writer, she's funny, and tells a lighthearted story that is entertaining and does exactly what it's supposed to do.

I was not enamored of the narrator, she read way to slow at times, and kept using a Scottish accent for the English bride that kind of got a bit confusing. However, she did have a pleasant sounding voice, and when she would talk at a normal speed her pleasant tone worked well as a narrator. I will say it took some getting used to, and perhaps that's not for everyone. The whole reason listeners choose this format is to be swept away by the story telling. Her narration was certainly not one of the worst narrations I have heard and I would listen to a book she narrates again, but will not actively seek her out.

On that note we all hear things differently so what I might dislike in a narrator is not necessarily something another would dislike.

To each their own and we are all sitting on our opinions.

I would suggest trying out this audible if you can over come the narrator, if not, I would still recommend the book in another format to avid romance readers, as it works well as a lighthearted mindless romp.

read this previous to listening

since I have been loosing my sight, I have been finding books I read previously so I could at least listen to them again if not read. I remember laughing at what I perceived as dry humor - but with this particular reader almost returned the book not even hardly into the first chapter. I am sure the reader improved by now and must be better. they just hadn't reached it at the time this was recorded.

Great Book, narrotor could be better.

This was a great book to listen to, I didn't want to stop listening. The only thing was the narrarator has one tone, that made it dull. The story was so good that I could over look the dull tone of the narrator.

A Humorous Escape From Reality to

Sands writes strong stand alone character s & puts them in unique situations combining humor, romance, danger & mystery.
I laughed out loud upon my first reading of this book. Unfortunately the narrator nearly ruined my second time around. Speeding up the audio helped to make the delivery palatable. Giving the story a little more vocal variety on my head enabled me to enjoy the story again & the music track at the end was a nice touch.

Love this Author, big fan

I very much enjoy Lyndsay Sands writing. I do enjoy all her book so far. This is one of my favorite books. The narrator lacked a little emotion but some may like that. I prefer a little more. I am looking forward to the next Lindsay Sands book. whatever it may be.

Meh

I liked the story but narrator is a little irritating. it was almost as if she read faster she would lose the accents.

Great story- poor reading

The story was really good. However the reader was very monotone, almost like reading stage directions :(
