Publisher's summary

Twenty years ago, she had her whole life spread out before her. She was Bess Walsh, a fresh-scrubbed, middle-class student ready to conquer the design world. And she was taken. Absolutely and completely. But not by Andy, her well-groomed, intellectual boyfriend who had hinted more than once about a ring. No. During that hot summer as a waitress and living on the beach, she met Nick, the moody, dark-haired, local bad boy. He was, to put it mildly, not someone she could take home to Daddy. Instead, Nick became her dirty little secret - a fervent sexual accomplice who knew how to ignite an all-consuming obsession she had no idea she carried deep within her. Bess had always wondered what happened to Nick after that summer, after their promise to meet again. And now, back at the beach house and taking a break from responsibility, from marriage, from life, she discovers his heartbreaking fate - and why he never came back for her.Suddenly, Nick's name is on her lips...his hands on her thighs...dark hair and eyes called back from the swirling gray of purgatory's depths. Dead, alive, or something in between, they can't stop their hunger. She wouldn't dare.

Eroticism, Real Characters, Awesome Reader

The first time I listened to this book, I was taken aback by its explicitness - I'm not used to books like this. That being said, what started out as a titilating f***-fest actually turned into a pretty good book with an interesting paranormal aspect to it and a truly emotional ending. I really enjoyed this book, so much, in fact, I've listened to it twice.
Sure, sometimes the main character's choices are irritating. She can be selfish, it's true. But I think Megan did an excellent job of portraying real characters, love em or hate em. And I think she goes a great job of writing the male perspective - at least in my opinon. I also very much enjoyed the reader of this book. She did an excellent job reading both the male and female parts. You definitely need to have an open mind when you listen to this book; if you can do that, you'll be rewarded by an immensely entertaining reading.

Yet another Great Hart Story

If you could sum up Deeper in three words, what would they be?

Now, Then, WOW

What did you like best about this story?

The flashbacks made a great impact on the story. The flow was natural and powerful. The look backs in the given sequence left me wanting more and expecting to hear the other side of things. Looking back gave greater depth to the characters and made me love them, or hate them. even more.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Deeper is the story of a mistake that changed the heart of one woman and the men who loved her.

Any additional comments?

Another great story of passion and self-realization by Megan Hart. She pulled me in from the start, kept me coming back and listening for hours at a time, an ending that makes it all come together seamlessly, making me want to seek out another story by her.

Wow OMG

Megan Hart you have become one of my all time favorite authors with just this one book. You broke my heart and made me laugh I fell in love with Nick and hated him at the same time. you made your characters relatable and real. Such a breath of fresh air to the so many predictable books now a days, it has been so long since a book has given me an emotional investment to the characters thank you.

This is my favorite book

I have it in my kindle & now audible. It brings me to tears each time I read or hear it. I love how the past and present are so intertwined. He love for Nick will always be. That’s why I adore this.

Disappointed

I'm a fan of Megan Hart and was looking forward to listening to this book, especially after reading so many glowing reviews. Unfortunately I was greatly disappointed. The premise had a lot of promise and the method of telling the story in both the past and present made it even more interesting. But I kept waiting to find out why she was so taken by Nick who seemed childish and selfish and spent 20 years with a man who seemed to treat her badly even before they were married. Despite waiting for the entire book I never saw the redeeming side of either of these men. I'm left to believe their "good" side was always "offstage" or the great quantities of sex was the extent of their attraction. Usually Ms Hart creates well rounded believable characters but this time I simply couldn't believe this woman who seemed to be an intelligent, rational person would put up with being treated with contempt by both of them yet still claim to love the one and stay with the other for 20 years. Savannah Richards did a good job of narration, yet I couldn't help but wonder at times if she was emphasizing the hurtful way they spoke to each other when at times it should have been more neutral thus reinforcing my dislike for all of the characters. In the end I simply didn't care about any of them. If this had been my first Megan Hart book it would probably have been my last. As it is I'm still a fan because I know most of her books are much better written. So now I'm looking forward to listening to the next one.

Enjoyed story

This was my first exposure to Megan Hart and to erotica romance and I was captivated by the story. After getting over the shock of the erotica (I usually read Amish romance books) the story was great and the characters well developed and believable. Of course the coming back from "the gray" is not believable, but if someone had, how they would react to it was believable. The love and romance between Bess and Nick was wonderfully portrayed. Andy was a true jerk and I can't understand why Bess ever married him, but I see the same type of marriages in real life all the time. The erotica was tastefully written and flowed well with the story. The narrator of the audio version, Savannah Richards, was great and I think added to the enjoyment of the story, hearing the story unfold in Bess' own voice, as it was.

WOW!

This book had me crying and that usually does not happen. When your driving down the highway and people are looking at you wondering what the hell is wrong, you know that it is a great book! Yeah, it's alittle out there on the fact of someone coming back, but this book made me think that it could happen. Great story, great narrator and great author!

Synopsis better than the story.....

Wow I was looking forward to this story.. started off okay but then turned weird! All the Now, and Then chapters, the slow realization of who he is and "How orbwhy".. the narration was mediocre and the story did not keep me fully engrossed.. I finally just skipped to the last chapter... Not going to spoil the ending.. but it was totally a mess! My favorite person was Eddie.. as you will see why.

Not at all what I was expecting

If you could sum up Deeper in three words, what would they be?

The story was different. At first I thought it was a little too different, but the author and the narrator really pulled it off.

WOW, such an emotional story.

Would you listen to Deeper again? Why?

Yes, at first I was not sure about the story, however, I've really enjoyed listening to Megan Harts other stories so I continued to listen.

What did you like best about this story?

Very emotional, you are able to conect witht he characters.

What does Savannah Richards bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is able to embody each character and bring them to life for you.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and no. At times I felt that the book was too emotional, however, I also wanted to know what happens next. I have enjoyed the ending to all of Megan Harts books that I have listened to so far, the endings are not always what you think/want them to be; but they are nonetheless very good.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoy listening to Megan Harts stories, she is on the top of my list of best writers.
