Publisher's summary

Bestselling author Kresley Cole continues her seductive Immortals After Dark series with this tale of a vampire shunned even by his own kind and a beautiful phantom, bound together by a passion they cannot resist.

A RAVEN-HAIRED TEMPTRESS OF THE DARK...

Néomi Laress, a famous ballerina from a past century, became a phantom the night she was murdered. Imbued with otherworldly powers but invisible to the living, she haunts her beloved home, scaring away trespassers - until she encounters a ruthless immortal even more terrifying than Néomi herself.

A VAMPIRE WARRIOR CONSUMED BY MADNESS...

To prevent him from harming others, Conrad Wroth's brothers imprison him in an abandoned manor. But there, a female only he can see seems determined to drive him further into madness. The exquisite creature torments him with desire, leaving his body racked with lust and his soul torn as he finds himself coveting her for his own.

HOW FAR WILL HE GO TO CLAIM HER?

Yet even if Conrad can win Néomi, evil still surrounds her. Once he returns to the brutality of his past to protect her, will he succumb to the dark needs seething inside him?

Love this series!!

I am listening to the Immortals After Dark series for the second time. They're even better this time around! I am amazed at Kresley's imagination, and so very glad she has the talent to share with us. Robert Petkoff is the perfect narrator. I wish he could read me a bedtime story every night; oh, the dreams I would have!!

Amazing Narrator!

I just want to give a shout out to the Narrator! I don't typically like when one person reads all the books in a series, because there are often various dialects and languages to speak; somehow, Petkoff manages to embody the characters with their own unique accent, without sounding made up. Very impressive!

I really enjoy how Cole weaves together such an intricate plot. While this story wasn't my favorite of the series, I did enjoy the characters of Conrad and Naomi, and, as ALWAYS, liked to hear about the Lore from their side of things.

Poor Mari. I really was worried about her.

A Good Read

This book was fun to read and well performed. The accents were consistent which I really like. Naomi and Conrad are likeable and sympathetic characters.

Excellent Narrator for a Favourite Books

The love I have for this book is eternal! I make sure to read it at lead once a year.

So for this years reread, I decided to go the audiobook route and although I was initially apprehensive that the audiobook might mar my fave book, I pressed on and boy was I pleasantly surprised! I dare say the audiobook made me love the story MORE!

The narrator,Peter Petkoff, was excellent. Every single voice in this book was unique and full of life. He captured Néomi’s voice perfectly and gave me a Conrad’s voice performance I didn’t even know I needed. Excellent I tell you!

For the story proper, I guess the thing that keeps me going back to this book is the redemption of Conrad and Néomi(though in vastly different ways) , and the way the Heroine had a steel backbone to her. None of the TSTL girlies here.

So yeah, LOVED this and might just be re-listening to this audio till the end of time 😊😊

Fantastic listen

Robert Petkoff is fantastic as usual! I would listen to him narrate literally anything. I liked this book a lot, I enjoyed the second half more, and the ending was a 10/10. I think the storyline of the previous book was stronger for me personally, I loved Bowen's storyline. I absolutely plan on listening again in the future though!

Spooky, steamy ghost story

Kresley Cole's books are great, and this one is no exception, but the combination of her writing and Robert Petkoff's amazing narration takes it to a completely new level. His ability to do accents and to differentiate characters is just about the best I've ever heard. He manages to make lines that would sound cheesy coming from another reader, sound perfect and sexy. I really wish Petkoff could narrate every romance book. I don't always love his female voices but I thought his version of Neomi was spot on.

The romance in this story is a slow build for sure, but I loved it. I enjoyed both of the lead characters and thought this twist on a doomed but beautiful ghost haunting the house she died in fresh and interesting.

I hope we get more of the Immortals After Dark stories in Audible quickly. And more publishers need to give work to Robert Petkoff!

The best audiobook EVER!!!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Dark Needs at Night's Edge to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version of this book but I believe the audio version is the best because the narrator did voices that I thought were perfect and the emotions that he used for the characters were AWESOME.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was Conrad Roth. He is my favorite due to the fact we got to see his transformation from fallen Vampire to a feeling, caring, virgin lover. It was so exciting.

Have you listened to any of Robert Petkoff’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have heard almost all of the books in this series and I think he is a great performer. he makes the characters come to life and he makes sure you know the differences between male and female which I think is really important.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, I wish I could have listened to this book in one sitting. However I just would have angered myself because it would have ended quicker

LOVE Robert Petkoff reading these books!

I have one thing to say about Robert Petkoff reading these books....WOW!!! He is the perfect person to read these characters. Rarely do you come across an actor who can not only play all male characters very convincingly but also play female characters and make you forget it's a male reading the character. Not to mention the accents he does are spot on! He makes listening to these great stories so enjoyable I find myself getting lost in them. I'd like to hear him read Christine Feehan's books as well...he'd be perfect for those too!
