Publisher's summary

Avalon Spy Academy rules: spy on the fey, resist falling for your mentor, and try not to die in the process.

I spent five years saving up for a European vacation. But instead of drinking champagne on the beach, I get swept into a war of espionage between the humans and the fey.

It turns out, I have a magic power needed to fight an evil fey king. I'm quickly whisked off to an elite spy academy in a hidden realm. There, in the ancient and gothic halls of Avalon Tower, snobbery and brutal competitions are among the oldest traditions.

As if I didn't have enough trouble, my new mentor is Raphael Launcelot, a maddeningly sexy demi-fey who already ruined my life once. I can't fall for him again. Romance is forbidden here; a distracted spy is a dead spy. So I need to push his dangerous allure out of my mind as we travel into the Fey realm. If we get captured, we’ll die horrific deaths–and humanity won’t stand a chance.

If you liked Frost and City of Thorns, you will love Avalon Tower.

Entertaining and fun nod to Camelot

The story was entertaining and fun. Not necessarily life-changing, but a delight nonetheless! Super excited to continue on with the series as it comes out. My only complaint is could production please for the love stop letting Amanda Leigh Cobb narrate all of the popular romantasy books. Her voice is just beyond irritating and has ruined characters for me

So good!

King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table + fae = This epic read! Once you start this, you won't be able to stop! I had to know what happened next. It was like I was a spy from Avalon Tower right along with Nia. And that ending 🤯 I knew there was going to be something like that, but I didn't see that twist coming! Cannot wait for the next book!

Yes! Listen to this book!

Yes! Finally! I was able to devour this awesome audiobook and man I wish I listened sooner!

Avalon Tower is a super unique twist on Fae, humans and King Arthur and the Knights of the round table.

We started of in a modernesque France. The Fae have invaded and most modern technology is wiped out. The humans were able to push the Far back but not before the Fae inhabited part of France and put up an uncrossable veil. Enter Nia a bookstore cashier on vacation in human occupied France that’s world is about to be turned upside down by the fae, Demi fae and The Knights of the Round Table.

The overall storyline is so very intriguing and the writing style was just to my liking.

The chemistry and tension between Nia and Raphael (or should I say Raphael Lancelot) is on fire!

This is a bitter first love ghosting to reluctant allies to friends to lovers book and you do not want to miss it!

There is a great found family aspect. Nia has two Demi fae roommates that have her back and help Nia really find connection in a world where she was always the one alone, holding the pieces together.

Now on to the narration. It was phenomenal! The narrator did a great job from character to character and really added more to an already great story!

I admit I both listened to this book and read it because I needed to keep the story going. That’s how good it was!

Fantastic adventure, actuon, intrigue, passionate rimsnce!

I enjoyed the dialogue, introduction, rising action, incredible detail of another time and place. I enjoyed the marvelous accents and believable characters. The book ended on a-must- read- the-next-one straight away feeling.

This was fun!

I love the mix of fae and the Arthurian tales we’re all so familiar with. It’s an easy read which is why I Love CN Crawford. I feel like she’s always a go to when I can’t pick a book or they all sound too much. This is my version of Cozy fantasy when you still want spice.

Narration was excellent

The story is not predictable and startling at times. It ends on a cliff which I always hate but the story is so good I can’t wait to listen to the next book.

It got better

Perhaps it was the narrator that held me back from being immersed in this story. Her inflections were distracting; at times, British accent done with the FMC's dialog. The voices of other characters were done better than the FMC.
Story wise, it took a few chapters before I was pulled in, and even then, I wasn't salivating for the next scene/chapter. Some of the early chapters I thought were unrealistic. Sparring on the first day of training? Then she's berated by Vivianne for it? It just didn't make sense to me.
The further I progressed, the story became more interesting and the end had me gaping. Though until that moment, it was kind of predictable with flashes of surprise.
All in all, the story was decent and I loved the world C.N. built, but I'm not chomping at the bit for the next book. This is a decent palate cleanser as of rn. We'll see if I'm needing another when book 2 comes out.
