Ok. Believe the hype about Robert Petkoff. I didn't, but I do now! He was awesome, he was funny, he breathed life into this book!
Cadeon Woede is on a quest to help recover a mystical sword which was crafted to kill a specific immortal, who stole Cadeon's brother Rydstroms kingdom.
Everyone blames Cadeon's for the loss and he has spent the last 900 years trying to atone.
Imagine Cadeon's dilemma when he learns the price for the sword is his fated female Holly Ashwin. To get his Rydstrom's kingdom back, he would have to trade his female for the sword. What's a demon to do?
This was one of the most straightforward IAD books I've listened to in a while. I wasn't confused by many various characters in the Lore, as this was mostly Demon and a Harpy, with special appearances by a few other sups, but not enough to need a diagram.
Cadeon was funny, sarcastic, rough around the edges and sweet at the same time. Holly's OCD made for an interesting read, but I loved how everyone made allowances and worked with her quirks. I really loved how Holly said she finally found a place where she fit in, and she also discovered her inner strength. She took everything that Cadeon's taught her and fought to save herself.
Very impressed with her...and Cadeon.
I look forward to finding out why Rydstrom has That Woman in chains:D
i'm a romance's lice! i crawl all over it... :D
Wicked and Hot described this book. Add in this amazing narrator whom gave life to this story. Robert Petkoff is the key ingredient and i admire him for his skillful expert narrating delivery!!
The writer did a great job of stretching this story to the max and filling out details in between. I certainly didn't feel like it wasn't too long and boring. The journey she brought me in was very enjoyable. I wouldn't change a thing.
Characters wise though... hmmmm there's something that i didn't quite put my finger on. I definitely could use a stronger more powerful hero. he seems to be too weak for holly at times.. but can't complain much! i enjoyed both of them together nonetheless. I most definitely enjoyed listening to Holly's character developed and bloomed from a weak nerdy girl into this strong powerful Valkyrie.
It ranks pretty high, it is one of my favourites in the series. So I was looking forward to listening to it.
I just love Cade. He's one of my favourite lore people.
Robert Petkoff is fantastic at narrating these books he really brings the characters to life.
Fantastic book, with one of the best narrators there is. Definitely worth a listen!
I can't think of anyone I know who actually would enjoy this monstrosity.
Nothing by this author, that's for sure.
I wouldn't, because this book is terrible and doesn't deserve a narrator.
Every single last one.
As an avid reader, there are always books I don't like, but so far I haven't come across any that made my blood boil like this one did. The reason? The main character. Apparently, according to Kresley Cole, domestic violence is fine as long as a woman is the one doing the violence, men couldn't POSSIBLY understand what being used for sex is like so we should stick it to every man we meet and make him feel worthless even though he's done nothing to deserve it, and being bitchy, stuck-up, and just plain mean to a man who saves your life on multiple occasions (at extreme risk to his own I might add) is how a "strong" woman behaves. Ugh. I hated the main character the whole way through. She wasn't just a bitch, she was an uber-bitch who literally made the hero feel like garbage and yet he continues to worship her. I just wanted him, just once, to tell her (soulmates or not) to go fuck herself with a thorny stick. But of course that can't happen because women are Jesus, right? Also, the story itself was irritating. (Spoilers!) At one point, the "heroine's" boyfriend, who was being used as an excuse not to be with the hero, is revealed to be using her for her work in this obvious bid to make it seem as though women really are being kept out of STEM fields by men and not by their own stupid decisions. His character is nothing more than a plot device to make her suddenly want the hero after an entire book of her taking a big, nasty shit on him. It's pure propaganda, dressed up as romance and it makes me sick. A guy saves my life on multiple occasions, injuring and inconveniencing himself and over and over while also teaching me how to fight and doing everything in his power to take care of me in every possible way, he can have whatever he wants. As for his lie, he wasn't going to go through with it, but when he had no other choice he did it to save her life. I don't see that as something to get butthurt over. Just so much misandry and sexism against men in this book, I was just barely able to stop myself from throwing my tablet across the room. I HATE this book!
I've always been a avid reader so now I'm a avid listener. I prefer the paranormal genre but I do like to switch things up. It's boring if you don't have variety. Of course I do love the romance and the hotter the better. Also, you can't beat a good thriller filled with suspense and a ending you can't even guess at until the very end.
Okay maybe I was wrong. Robert Petkoff can do "Demon" very well too. I've been in the mood to re-visit one of my favorite paranormal series and it's been such a joy. It makes a girl want to go out and find a pair of horns to rub. You never waste your credits on these books.
Loved this one. Great characters and loved straight up and honest communication between them, no diddly daddle with these two. Narration fantastic. Keeps you interested, has all aspects you want in a book, love, humor, surprises etc. Enjoy.
These books are great Kresley Cole is a very good author her characters are hilarious and extremely interesting. There have been lots of moments in these books where I've burst into laughter. My family always looks at me as if I have grown 2 heads, but its worth it. I check for more every month and have bought all available audio books, and can't wait for the rest. I've enjoyed them enough that I also own the Kindle additions so I could find out what happens next. I really hope she continues with the series and poor Nucking Futs Nix finds herself a man and a little sanity.
I normally don't go for male narrators, but Robert Petkoff has done a good job with these books.
I am in love with pararomance and am always trying to find new series with a great story and sizzling hot spots!
Yes, if they are into this sort of book! The story is absolutely wonderful. I was happy that Neomi wanted Cade and wasn't trying to fight him, and of course it was hot as all her books are!
It was pretty exciting at times, them trying to get away from the creatures of the Lore trying to capture her.
Uhhh..... that's a hard one!
I was actually really shocked when Neomi became a Vaylkerie, I wasn't expecting that.
When is Audible going to get ALL of them, I need to catch up!!!
This is not one of my favorites in the series. I was certainly looking forward to its release but not overly excited. But this book is sooo good, the audio did it for me. I thought the read was a little slow moving with the romance at first but BAM! it sure did pick up as the action did.
Cadeon is definitely one of the more human type immortals in this series. I think we all know a guy who kind of lives like him with the responsible and slobbery level. He has his crew of buddies. But nothing comes between him and his desire for his Holly.
I really like Holly shes too smart and just wacky enough to be part Valkrye. Smart enough to not jump into bed with that oh so yummy Cad. Until... Cadeon shifts gears and really inspires her with that voice and that body --- oh my you get the point. It's worth it.
Book & History Enthusiast
I have one thing to say about Robert Petkoff reading these books....WOW!!! He is the perfect person to read these characters. Rarely do you come across an actor who can not only play all male characters very convincingly but also play female characters and make you forget it's a male reading the character. Not to mention the accents he does are spot on! He makes listening to these great stories so enjoyable I find myself getting lost in them. I'd like to hear him read Christine Feehan's books as well...he'd be perfect for those too!
