Publisher's summary

Emma is content. She's got a promising career in front of her, great friends, and a pretty amazing family. But her love life has been a little lacking lately. That's when fate steps in, and she crashes into a tall, dark, and handsome man - Teren Adams. He’s single, successful, an extraordinary gentleman, but he’s also secretive. And some of his secrets are more unusual than most people’s. For instance, he’s a "little bit" vampire. He has fangs, incredible hearing, unbelievable speed, and, on occasion, he enjoys drinking a steaming cup of blood. But he’s also very much alive. He has a heartbeat, loves steak as well as cappuccinos, and has no problems walking around during the day. Since Teren acts human the majority of the time, the pros far outweigh the cons in Emma’s book. But when it becomes apparent that Teren’s condition is much more serious than he first lets on, and that being in a relationship with him requires more sacrifices than most would be willing to make, will Emma stay? Is love enough to compensate for a life that will never be anywhere near normal? But then again...what's normal anyway?

Superficial, immature characters, poor story

I am not opposed to the Doritos of literature - delicious stories with questionable nutritional value, but truly this book would be the rice cakes of literature: dull, stale and boring. The main character was vapid. The supportive characters were superficial, immature (especially for the assumed age of vampires), and the story was excrutiatingly predictable. I would know the outcome of a particular line of questioning chapters in advance of the protagonist, which made me almost angry at times. There wasn't a single likeable character in the book. Very disappointing. I made it 6 hours until I gave up.

The narrator wasn't bad - per say, just robotic with minimal inflection.

Dumbest book I have ever tried to listen to!

What disappointed you about Conversion?

In general, it sounded like it was written by a 13 year old. I had to give up before it was finished.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The male character (can't even remember his name) sounded extremely slow and stupid.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Not really......

I don't even know how this book got published. This is seriously one of the worst books I have ever listened to.

S.C. Stephens... are you sure?

Would you try another book from S. C. Stephens and/or Piper Goodeve?

This doesn't seem like the same writer that wrote the amazing story of Kiera and Kellan. I was extremely disappointed. Its as if she found it necessary to drink the vampire koolaid long after the appeal dissolved.

Would you ever listen to anything by S. C. Stephens again?

I can't be sure at this point.

What three words best describe Piper Goodeve’s voice?

Reader was okay

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Just disappointed, I couldnt even finish it.

I was bored

If I’d gotten this from the library, I never would’ve finished it. But since I paid for it I felt obligated to make it to the end. The characters were boring and annoying and the story was predictable and dumb. It reads like a children’s book. I don’t recommend it.

Stupid, self-absorbed, half-porn, pseudo-vampire

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Getting a better written story? Where people actually have personality? This book feels like a slightly more porn-y version of Twilight, no story, no personalities, no plot, no nothing

Would you ever listen to anything by S. C. Stephens again?

NO

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Piper Goodeve?

No one, as this story shouldn't have been published as a book, let alone an audiobook. Piper isn't at fault, with this material she couldn't have done any better.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

NO. A whiney, brainless, self-absorbed girl falls in love with a little-bit-vampire, who is brooding and sinister and about to die and needs to make a baby before. Is S.C. Stephens a pseudonym for Stepheny Meyer? This book is about equally as lifeless as Twilight ...

Any additional comments?

I want my credit back for this garbage. And I'd like to question the sanity of the Audible staff who put this out there as a fun, light summer listen, paranormal romance ... There's no romance in it, it's just badly written porn. It's not fun, it's not light, it's a desperate story about a 19 year old agreeing to have a baby with a vampire just to continue his "line" - whom he seems to loathe anyway ... *argh* Why aren't there any good books anymore?

No,just no.

Would you try another book from S. C. Stephens and/or Piper Goodeve?

Probably not. I can't decide if it's the book or the narrator.

What could S. C. Stephens have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Characters seem immature

How could the performance have been better?

Difficult to distinguish male voice from female

Any additional comments?

Hope to get my credit back to use on something better.
