Publisher's summary

Hilarious, hot and seriously refreshing. Dirty Little Midlife Crisis is the book you didn’t know you needed.

Forty-five, recently divorced and a certified hot mess. The last thing Fiona needs to start her vacation is a flooded hotel room and a broken-down car.... Alas, that’s what she gets. She’s ready to pack it all in and go home - wherever that is - when her knight in a wet T-shirt strides in to save the day. Jaw-dropping, panty-melting Grant Greene takes the 'mess' out of 'certified hot mess' when he walks up to Fiona and offers her a room to stay. No strings attached. Great, right? It would be, apart from the sparks that immediately start to fly. Sparks are bad. Sparks are dangerous. Sparks can cause a fire. And for a divorcee trying to start over, a fire is really bad news. But bad decisions can be fun...right? Just as long as you don’t get burned....

2nd chance love

Loved it. Ms Monroe has a knack for writing the best stories with sexy characters looking for that second chance in life.

High hopes for a mid life story ....

This is a really NICE story. I was looking forward to a more middle life story that avoided the old tropes and this offered a lot of scope.

Unfortunately it felt a little to much like it sits on the Virgin River-YA spectrum of heat and spice. The story seemed to try and avoid showing that people over 40 can have real and exciting sex lives. It doesn't end at 30. It just seemed like it didn't want to offend the reader's sensibilites (like it will offend a reader to know that your mom really does have GOOD sex and talking about it is wrong) .

While I don't need it ....I do love a good slow burn or a "hot and dirty", BUT a fade to grey in this case stunts the potential narrative and plot development.

The male reader was very good but the female reader was pretty stilted and lacked emotive inflection in her parts and I had to try and work with it.

The story is enjoyable and sweet but it felt like there was so much more possible.

Maybe I am jaded but for MC's over 40 to have such limited life views or insecurities about what they wanted seemed a little immature. The missed opportunity was to capture the depth and scope that to older MC's lifes experiences can bring to a narrative.

I will read the next novel in the series to make sure BUT its now down my priority list.

A Fun Quirky Romance

First book I've read from this author. I enjoyed beginning visual. The wrench that was thrown into the middle was surprise and at one point I got angry at Grant. All emotions brought on by a good story. I will read more by this author. Let's not forget the narration was great also.

Great Story and Narrators

A sweet romantic story with a few twists and turns. The narrators did a great job bringing it to life.

Dirty little midlife crisis

I enjoyed this story about a woman who is running from heartache and finds a town full of supportive people who take her in and build her self-worth. I enjoyed that she also found a second chance at love there. I can't wait to listen to more stories from this series. I decided to listen to the audio because I enjoyed reading the books in this series so much.

A good listen….with one exception

First, I absolutely love that the couple at the center of this story is middle aged. Men and women in their 40s and 50s can feel lusty vibes, fall in love, and engage in steamy sex just as much as the 20- and 30-something crowd. Romantic storylines shouldn’t be limited to younger couples. Do you hear that, authors? We need more of this right here! 😊 The story itself was good and the supporting characters were entertaining. My issue with this audiobook was the narration. The male narrator was good; not stellar, but a good solid performance. The female narrator was the issue. The story jumps between a couple of different female characters perspectives several times in the story, and that is where this narrator falls short. She offers little to no change in her voicing of these characters, so it becomes a bit hard to follow if you’re not paying very close attention. A couple of times I had to rewind because I thought the main female character was still talking, but the story had switched to the perspective of her friend and there was no noticeable voice change. She’d be a good narrator if it wasn’t for this issue. I would still recommend this book, just be advised to pay VERY close attention to the female POV changes. This was my first book by this author and I enjoyed it enough that I plan to check out the next book in the series.
