Publisher's summary

There is only one thing wrong with the charming community of Fool’s Gold, California: the men don’t stick around! This problem has to be fixed, fast, and Charity Jones may be just the city planner up to the challenge. Charity immediately falls in love with all the storybook town has to offer – except its sexy, famous, world-class cyclist Josh Golden. With her long list of romantic disasters, she’s not about to take a chance on another bad boy…but it may just be what they both need!

Critic reviews

"The book brims with quick-witted, good-natured characters, and though Charity and Josh occasionally verge on blandness, their romance grows poignantly and with chemistry to spare." ( Publishers Weekly)

Poor performance

Would you listen to Chasing Perfect again? Why?

No.

Would you be willing to try another book from Susan Mallery? Why or why not?

I would be willing to try another Susan Mallery book as long as it has a different narrator.

What didn’t you like about Tanya Eby’s performance?

The speed of her narration.

Fools Gold Start

What a great series. Charity and Josh kicks off the town of Fool's Gold with lots of fun. Refreshing not to have led people who are not full of themselves.

Narrator is awful in 1st book, MUCH better in 2nd!

What did you like best about Chasing Perfect? What did you like least?

I liked all of the characters in the book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Charity, who is the main character, is a nice woman. It was a bit odd how she and Josh just went from nothing to a couple without much relationship building though.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Tanya Eby?

The narrator was really awful. I'm sure she's a nice lady, but it was almost painful to listen to it. I'm glad I stuck with it though because she's much much better in the rest of the series!

Not bad story ruined by narrator

This is one of the only books I have ever purchased that I could not force myself to finish because of the narrator. Her voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard and she puts emphasis on the strangest words. What I was able to listen to seemed to be an enjoyable story but the narration was something I just could not get past.

Awful narration

I'm a huge fan of Susan Mallery. I generally love all of her books. I own many of the audiobook versions. As soon as I started listening to this one, I immediately regretted buying it. The narrator is absolutely horrible. It sounds like she's never read a book aloud before. She reads very quickly in some points, sounding almost like she's on speed. Her inflection doesn't fit right. She pauses very awkwardly in places that clearly do not have pauses. Her voices change for the same character, leaving you confused. Please do not waste your money on this audiobook. I got through an hour of it and had to quit because I just couldn't stand the narration anymore.

Wow..um...wow...not in a good way

Okay this has got to be the dumbest story/plot I have ever heard. This book is so stupid on so many levels I can't possibly put them into words (I'm only sorry the author did!!)

IF you can possibly get past that part, the narrator will drive you nuts. She sounds like one of those automated voice machines reading the story. Save your credits!

Not Mallery's best

Any additional comments?

I've listened to all of Susan Mallery's books and I've enoyed all of them. But this one was so predictable and repeated itself so much--telling you the same things about the characters over and over again. Pick a different Mallary book and skip this one!

disappointing

It could not keep my attention. I had to relisten to multiple chapters a few times. even now I couldn't tell you how it ended. it lacked something to grab ones attention...not a lot of drama to keep me interested.
