Publisher's summary

An alluring laird....

He was known throughout the kingdom as Hawk, legendary predator of the battlefield and the boudoir. No woman could refuse his touch, but no woman ever stirred his heart - until a vengeful fairy tumbled Adrienne de Simone out of modern-day Seattle and into medieval Scotland.

Captive in a century not her own, entirely too bold, too outspoken, she was an irresistible challenge to the 16th-century rogue. Coerced into a marriage with Hawk, Adrienne vowed to keep him at arm's length - but his sweet seduction played havoc with her resolve.

A prisoner in time....

She had a perfect "no" on her perfect lips for the notorious laird, but Hawk swore she would whisper his name with desire, begging for the passion he longed to ignite within her. Not even the barriers of time and space would keep him from winning her love. Despite her uncertainty about following the promptings of her own passionate heart, Adrienne's reservations were no match for Hawk's determination to keep her by his side.

Great Scot! Don't miss our other titles in the Highlander series.

Critic reviews

"Phil Gigante's handling of the prose in Moning's clever paranormal romance is smooth and engaging, but it is his character voicings that truly make this recording one to remember." (AudioFile)

Take Me Away Highlander

The amount of frustration I get is usually tantamount to how well the story is penned. It’s been a while since I enjoyed so many genres woven together: time travel, Scottish historical, magic, romance, and of course - the Fae! Anyone who enjoys one of these types of stories will feel the credit well spent. Add to it a dreamy Scottish brogue and I was done in for the day! There are more by this author I am about to check out.,

Taming-of-the-shrew vibe time travel romance

It’s been such a long time since I’ve enjoyed a good time travel romance to Scotland!

This audiobook was a quick listen because I had so much fun listening to it.

Hawk catches the eye of all the lasses in Scotland, even the eye of the Fairy queen. So when the jealous Fairy King and Fae fool learn that Hawk has been ordered to wed by King James, they decide to whisk Adrienne from the 20th C to the 1500s to be his bride and exact revenge against the Hawk.

Experiencing her own trauma with beautiful men, Adrienne revokes all handsome men—making the fairy king and fool believe she will be the one to break the Hawk’s heart.

The story has a very taming of the shrew vibe to it, especially with all this falcon and hawk taming references. But boy were those scenes delicious.

The love is kind of insta-attraction, but Adrienne doesn’t give into Hawk immediately. There was a point where I felt like she was too stubborn, but I get where she is coming from. I like how passionate and enamored Hawk is.

Phil Gigante is an excellent narrator. The only thing I didn’t like is that the recording uses an effect to give an ethereal mood whenever the fairy king or queen speaks, but it muffled the voices and makes it difficult to hear what they’re saying.

Too much sex

Great, intriguing story, but way too steamy for my taste. Would love a cleaned up version in a series.

Not my cup of tea…

Eventually the story got there but it was a slow haul & all the back & forth between the main characters got old. The supernatural elements were fun but not until later in the story when they were explained a bit better. Had a tough time getting through it.

this is fantastic

I have been in public safety for half my life and as a person who has seen it all, this story captured me. Great romance and I almost fell into a puddle in the floor when I heard the voice of the hero. Thank you for this enjoyment.

Seems like Ms. Moning never misses!

I thought with just one narrator, this book would be a bit weaker than the others, but I was wrong. This author's ability to build the mystery one brick at a time, until you really just want to read the last page first, holds steady in all of her novels and this one is no different. Very romantic, but still most strongly a mystery. Before you start make sure you have plenty of time because you will not want to be interrupted in the middle. I recommend this to any of KMM's fans. If you are not a fan, read this one and you will become one.

A must read if you love highlander and Scotland

Loved it, couldn't stop listening to the story, I have read the book about 3 time and have listened to the story about 3 time. It worth the money and the author can really write a story that will hold your attention. All her books in this series is great. It's a romance with a little fae magic.
