Publisher's summary

An alluring laird....

He was known throughout the kingdom as Hawk, legendary predator of the battlefield and the boudoir. No woman could refuse his touch, but no woman ever stirred his heart - until a vengeful fairy tumbled Adrienne de Simone out of modern-day Seattle and into medieval Scotland.

Captive in a century not her own, entirely too bold, too outspoken, she was an irresistible challenge to the 16th-century rogue. Coerced into a marriage with Hawk, Adrienne vowed to keep him at arm's length - but his sweet seduction played havoc with her resolve.

A prisoner in time....

She had a perfect "no" on her perfect lips for the notorious laird, but Hawk swore she would whisper his name with desire, begging for the passion he longed to ignite within her. Not even the barriers of time and space would keep him from winning her love. Despite her uncertainty about following the promptings of her own passionate heart, Adrienne's reservations were no match for Hawk's determination to keep her by his side.

Great Scot! Don't miss our other titles in the Highlander series.

Critic reviews

"Phil Gigante's handling of the prose in Moning's clever paranormal romance is smooth and engaging, but it is his character voicings that truly make this recording one to remember." (AudioFile)

TOTALLY different from the Fever Series

Would you try another book from Karen Marie Moning and/or Phil Gigante?

Yes. I really enjoy Karen Marie Moning's Fever series and Phil Gigante is a great reader. However, I won't be listening to any more books from this series.

Any additional comments?

This is a true and typical romance novel. I bought it because I enjoy other books from this author, but this particular one just isn't my cup of tea.

Steamy sexy over the top time travel Romance

Oh my Gosh. I got wound up and carried with the two lovers in their bed chamber and after reading on with shaking hands I knew I would want a love like theirs. A love for all time....

Hm...

I am a fan of Karen Marie Moning's Fever series. I am also a fan of the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. If you take those two series and smoosh them together...take out all the historical fiction parts and sprinkle in a bunch of laughable sexual innuendoes (you didn't realize the top was unscrewed so a whole bunch dumped out)...this would be the outcome.
I enjoyed it for what it was...a fast, fun, and humorous romance romp.

Great storytelling

I'm a big fan of KMM & this book is one in a great series. Narrator does a great brogue but his female Southern voice was really irritating.

Great Narrator!!! Great Story!!!

I have read a few of the other reviews and almost did not purchase this book because of them. I found Phil Gigante's voice perfect for this series! It is true that it takes a few miuntes to get used to him in the female voice...but he IS a man. I find the same to be true when I listen to Anne Flosnik, or Rosalyn Landor...they are women so it takes a minute to get used to their male voices. All three are excellent narrators.

As for the story, I thought it was sweet, funny at times, and very tortured. The loves seens were steamy and descriptive. If that is not what you are looking for in a Romance, don't read it! I read this genre for tortured romance that drags out a bit. I also do NOT read romance for the character depth. Don't get me wrong, the character has to be believeable, which these two are, but I read the classics for character depth. I like a hero that is perfect for his heroine, damaged and male. The heroine needs to be troubled and not let go of her past, or vice versa. If they resolved the problems in the first three chapters, why would the rest of the book need to be written?

I highly reccommed this book to anyone who loves historical romance FICTION :)

Not her best, but good

I have read most of the Highlander series multiple times but it has been at least 15 years since reading this. The story is good, but not Moning's best.

Oh My Hawk!!

Any additional comments?

Narration - Phil Gigante - Pretty good

This was kind of silly, but also kind of cute. Loved Hawk! Enjoyed the 'mystical' parts of this story. Will definitely look into the rest of the series.

3 and a half, good but slow.

Good narrator, but the story moved along a little slower than I would've liked. I did find Adam Black fascinating though.
