Publisher's summary

They agreed on three months... but their love knew no boundaries.

Jack McLachlan is a winemaking magnate and easily one of Australia's most eligible bachelors. His success and wealth makes him no stranger to the complications of romantic relationships and that's why he goes to extreme measures to avoid the hassle. He prefers simplicity in the form of a beautiful female companion with no strings attached. He arranges relationships like business deals and they're always the same. No long term relationships. No real names.

It's his game and his rules. He's content to play as usual, but when Laurelyn Prescott enters his life, his strategy must change because this player is like none he's ever encountered. His world is turned on its head after he begins a three month affair with the beautiful American musician. Nothing goes according to plan and as he breaks more and more of his own rules for her, she's exceptionally close to becoming something he never thought possible. His ultimate game changer.

Beauty from Pain is an adult contemporary novel and is not intended for younger listeners due to mature content.

Review: Beauty #1: Beauty From Pain

What made the experience of listening to Beauty from Pain the most enjoyable?

The story was wonderful - different setting and slightly different storyline.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jack Henry is my favorite character. You see so much change in his personality throughout the book all because he's falling in love.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Bunny Warren and Robert Black ?

I have already listened to the next book in the series. I'm not overly enthused by the audio version and find it's more the accents that make the performance LESS enjoyable.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were a few laugh out loud moments with the interactions between Laurelyn and Jack Henry, however the abrupt ending had me so grateful that the next book was already released and I didn't have to wait to see what happens next.

A Bit Predictable

I enjoyed the story a little predictable and similar phrasing to other books .The narration I have to say the Aussie accent was atrocious OMG, just read it in an ordinary voice which I’m sure Robert could do. The American accent was a little on the strong side for my taste. All in all, a good, romantic sexy story to be continued....

Yummy

I have to admit that I love the M/F narration. I will warn you in advance that this one will leave you hanging and you will have to go on to the next book, but the good thing is that you won't have to wait. I enjoyed this book. In my opinion it's not overally sexually explict (wish it was "hotter"). It is a decent love story and it holds your attention. I consider it a credit well spent.

Great story! Very Hot.

If you could sum up Beauty from Pain in three words, what would they be?

fan-F-ingtastic hooked me

What did you like best about this story?

The story, even though predictable like most love stories. It was entertaining and great love scenes. You get caught up in their story.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Bunny Warren and Robert Black ?

Anyone else. The guy would have to have the accent and the girl needs a southern drawl. But these two need to practice a bit more. Robert read the lines in spurts. No natural flow when he read. He has a good voice and sexy accent but it was exhausting listening to him rush through his lines. Bunny, is to nasal sounding. Her southern accent sounds forced. If the story had not have hooked me, and I hate to waste a credit, I would have stopped listening due to their voices. Hate to be harsh. Sorry.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

No names, Hot Sex, all my fantasies met, no pretenses. A perfect distraction......until I lost my heart.

Any additional comments?

Great book, bad narration.

Proposition Read

Would you listen to Beauty from Pain again? Why?

yes. once i found out more about the characters and the plot i was hooked. the premise of the book is definitely fantasy in the since that two people whom don't know each other, not even their real names, can agree to have a sexual relationship for three months. but then again i think, this is a novel and it did what it was supposed to-entertain. i enjoyed it a lot.
i liked Jack. his wealthy, quirky family. i could even understand his hesitance in being in a "real" relationship. and when he made his proposition to Laurelyn and got to know her a bit i knew it was all over for him. she wasn't the typical woman he encounters. she was genuine, emotive, sensitive, and had a great sense of humor. who wouldn't fall in love with someone like that.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Beauty from Pain?

when Jack took Laurelyn to meet his family at the hospital and she sat with the kids while the adults went to see his father.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

i didn't like listening to two different narrators. it turned me away initially, but as i listened to the story i got accustomed to it.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

not really. it flowed nicely and was entertaining.

EXCELLENT

I really enjoyed this book. We meet Jack McLaughlin a very rich wine magnate who has given up on conventional dating. When he meets Laurelyn Prescott an American on 3 month holiday in Australia, he propositions her. Laurelyn quickly gets under his skin. They have a beautiful romance but they both know there is an end date. I don't want to give too much away but it's an enjoyable story set in Australia. The narration is well done but the dialect takes a little getting used to. This is for adults only. Worth the credit or the cash.

Can't wait

I loved the story but I did not like the different accents the 2 narrators gave. Overall I was smiling during happy times and frowning during non happy times....In my opinion that makes for the best stories.

Great book!

When I read the description of this book, I was skeptical. It sounded along the lines of 50 Shades, which I hated (for me 50 Shades too graphic, and I felt it lacked a storyline). This book was so much better. I couldn't stop listening. I liked the narrators, and I thought the accents were well done. I completely recommend this book!

Good story... narration no

If you could sum up Beauty from Pain in three words, what would they be?

well written story

What did you like best about this story?

I was pleasantly surprised and liked that I actually laughed out loud at times during the reading of a romantic story. This made the story more rounded and interesting.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

The narration matched the pace, they just did not seemed not to fit and flow at times switching back and forth from male to female. The accents sounded strange and forced.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It did

Any additional comments?

kept you interested and wanting to buy the next book
