Loved this book!!!

I loved this book. I loved the story and the characters.
The narrator made it awesome!!! I hope Jill Shalvis and Karen White stick together and I can't wait for the next book.

This was a pretty cookie cutter type of romance story. It checks of all the boxes, but does not really go above and beyond. It is entirely satisfactory as far as story - the characters are likeable enough and you get your standard HEA, but while it may elicit a chuckle or two, you won't find yourself laughing out loud or gettting swept away by the characters or story.

Karen White does a good job. But as someone who hates to speed up the narration, I followed the advice based on other reviews and I sped it up to 1.25. It is better that way.

Great Narration and A Very Good Story

I enjoyed listening to this book. It is a light bit of romance novel with some sizzle. I would listen to this author again and I would listen to the narrator again. It doesn't qualify as deeply engaging, and it does take interruption well. Nothing complicated or in depth here.

Enjoyable contemporary romance...

A light contemporary romance that is quite hot. I enjoyed the book although maybe my expectations were too high because I was expecting something like the Lucky Harbor series. It is not as good as that series but still very funny, cute and sexy. It's a good beach listen.

Narrator: I have to give it to Karen White. She quaked, barked and meowed like the real animals... And many times. She is a good narrator but many times I felt like she was too slow. This book should have lasted at least one hour less that it did. I actually speed up
The narration to 1.25 at times because it dragged.

JUST PLAIN OLE' MAGNETISM

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it was fun, romantic, albeit somewhat predictable, but also not a totally typical lovestory ending.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Brady & Liliah. It had to be both as it is their story. I loved Lilahs sense of humor and Brady's firm "caregiving" personality.

What does Karen White bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is a bit slow; could speed up a bit, but I liked the inflections and she did the male voices very well.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did. I don't think I have ever laughed as much listening to a romance novel yet the story was not silly or juvenile. It was Brady's dry sense of humor and Lilah's quirkiness and quick wit.

Dog lovers delight

They feel sparks from the moment she backs into his truck. The love affair is built on their love for junk food and being unsocial introverts. They fight feelings and fake it’s just a short for fun few weeks. When he is leaving and she doesn’t beg him to stay or cry over his leaving. He then gets hurt and has to rethink what his real goals are now. HEA story but characters you will like even though they are flawed. Great read /listen.

Bordering on irresponsible

For the most part, for a little light reading I'm happy to put common sense and reality aside. In this case it was stretched to the breaking point. Oddly enough the characters were believable enough to enjoy in their interactions.
What drove me crazy was the implausibility of the outside world. A large vet practice without a vet tech, but with a helicopter (there were extenuating circumstances, but I just can't believe it). An animal rescue picking up a pack of stray dogs and putting those dogs and a small pet dog into the back of a car and expecting all to go well. Raccoons causing an entertaining ruckus stealing eggs, but not killing and eating the chickens.
I realize that I do let a lot of reality go by the wayside when reading escapist fiction, but in this case it felt irresponsible.
If anyone actually attempted to run a kennel and rescue the way the main character did in this story there would be injury and more.
Read it for a little light reading, but be sure not to take anything in the story as a reflection of reality.

Where does Animal Magnetism rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It was interesting. I'm a animal lover so I liked the characters and the story about how they cared for the animals .I admire people who dedicate their time helping animals in need. In the description the book was stated that it "contains mature themes" but it wasn't filled with much sexual content. It's not a bad listen, but it was not a book that swept me away. I'd give it a average "one time listen" rating.

I like to use my credits on books that I would want to listen to again. I would recommend this one if it's on sale.
