“Wit, passion, and adventure, Elizabeth Boyle has it all!”
—Julia Quinn

New York Times bestselling RITA® Award winner Elizabeth Boyle is a wonder, and with Along Came a Duke—the first book in her delectable Rhymes with Love series based on well-known nursery rhymes—she proves once more that no one writes wittier, more endearing and original historical romance. Returning once more to England during the colorful Regency Era, Boyle transports readers to the small town of Kempton, where a local curse prevents the female residents from wedding—a fact that cannot deter a plucky young heiress who needs to marry to inherit her fortune, as she strikes out for London to wed a rakish and unsuspecting duke. Funny, touching, and wonderfully sensuous, Along Came a Duke is a prime example of the exceptional romantic magic that puts Elizabeth Boyle in the same master class as Lisa Kleypas and Christina Dodd.

This was my first book for this author. The story was OK, though nothing original or new. The story is not new and predicted. I got bored at multiple points of this book that I had to fast forward. However, the narrator Susan D was splendid! She improved tremendously since her first audiobooks! Good for her , I enjoyed listening to her.

Not so thrilling really!

The narrator did an awesome job narrating both the female and male voices. She really brought the story to life. The story itself was exceptional. I got hooked in the first few minutes and was not able to put it down. Fast paced, funny, and romantic. Highly recommend this story.

So very entertaining

The narrator was dreadful, the story was not compelling and the characters were not developed to be interesting or likable. I’m pretty generous listening to books while doing mundane tasks, but this one was painful.

It’s not the worst, but definitely not the best I’ve heard. The characters were not very likable. There’s also a lot of whispering, which got really annoying.

Just okay

I'm hooked on this author. I've read & listened to quite a few romance novels and have gotten good at knowing what to expect. Elizabeth Boyle adds life to her novels. She spices things up by using funny descriptions of the characters and events throughout the story. She adds just enough twists and turns to keep me guessing. Most of all, I love her humor. It's always nice to get a laugh or two out of a good book.

Elizabeth Boyle is fun to read!!

Love the banter between Tabby and Preston, LOL fun, hope the rest the series is as much fun to listen to.

Great fun!

I love this story. My only disappoint was that the extremely mean people in the story never received their comeuppance. But, the story was very good and I lived the characters. While some of the back story is sad, I loved the wit between the characters. I have one simple complaint. What is with all the whispering. I find whispering irritating in real life, and apparently books as well. A little is plenty.

Along Came a Duke and a good story.

This was my first Elizabeth Boyle, and it was interesting how much it sounded like an Eloisa James novel. It didn't hurt that it was read by Susan Duerden!

Really sweet romance.

Very cute!

I wasn't sure what to think, started a bit slow but then I was pleasantly surprised. Funny, smart, a great story

Stay with it

Cute story, typical historical regency romance. One unnecessary sex scene, which I skipped (I wish reviewers would indicate when there’s sex scenes in a novel). I have my settings so as not to receive or see titles with gratuitous sexual content. Very unnecessary and the story would have been better without it. “He took her to his bed…”. We KNOW what happens! I don’t want details!
At first the narrator seemed to be a novice, however, after the first chapter she began to get a flow and did much better with the voices. So if you try this book and are a bit irritated at first, but like the story, give the narrator a little bit more time, she gets better.
Worth the $5, but not more. Would have been disappointed if I had paid more.

Pretty good story and narration.
