Editorial reviews

When Emma’s brother dies under mysterious circumstances she stands to inherit a fortune. In the will however, her brother states that she must marry before receiving control of the wealth and that, in the meantime, Lord Alasdair will act as trustee…the same lord Alasdair who Emma has romantic history with that she’d sooner forget. Alasdair conspires, with amorous tactics, to earn himself a place in Emma’s bed by Valentine’s Day, when she vows to be wed. Gemma Dawson brings this ribald historical romance to life, voicing Emma’s hesitant and sumptuous passion with healthy abandon.

Publisher's summary

Dear Reader,

In celebration of true love, here's a Valentine's Day treat--the tale of two star-crossed lovers who can't see that they're perfect for each other....

Lady Emma Beaumont and Lord Alasdair Chase were once inseparable childhood friends, then betrothed lovers. But something went dreadfully awry, and Emma left Alasdair practically at the altar. Now, two years later, Emma has inherited a substantial fortune...but there's one small string attached: until the day she weds, Emma cannot spend a farthing without Alasdair's consent.

The thought of having to go to Alasdair, with his mocking smile and derisive eyes, every time she needs money is not to be borne. Emma swears to Alasdair that she'll have both a husband--and a lover--by St. Valentine's Day. Alasdair vows she won't--unless he himself becomes both her lover and her husband. In fact, he's looking forward to employing every form of sensual persuasion he dares to convince his passionate, headstrong Emma that she'd rather have him than any other man. Will he succeed?...or will Emma get her way?

Warmest wishes, Jane Feather

Compelling Performance, Interesting Story

What made the experience of listening to A Valentine Wedding the most enjoyable?

I was transported back in time to the period. The many different characters were brought to life in a way that enhanced the story making it both compelling and entertaining.

What did you like best about this story?

The historical element and the relationship between Emma and Alasdair was interesting- not your typical romantic heroine/hero. Their past history was very intriguing and the sexual tension was wonderfully tangible.

What does Gemma Dawson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is a FAB narrator! Many of the characters had foreign accents and some were masquerading undercover and adopting different nationalities- which could have been confusing, but she made them all very clear. She nailed the cheeky sexual tension between Emma/Alasdair. I very much enjoy her performances.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. It was a little slow to start but then picked up and progressed nicely.
