Publisher's summary

Tom wished for a meaningful job with the chance to make things. Someone listened. Judged by a masked demigod, Tom gets sent to another world with magic, game-like rules, and massive opportunity for a clever inventor.

He's been handed a new identity and adopted by a loving family. As a young man with otherworldly knowledge, he tries to recreate technology from humble beginnings. There are spells to learn, too, and he wants to treat his sister and parents right. His river homeland seems idyllic, but there are problems brewing with abused peasants, the necromancy business, and the management of living dungeons. To go from ambitious engineer to true hero, Tom needs to craft weapons, explore, and start a revolution. The industrial kind…probably.

Rising World is part of the LitRPG genre, combining fantasy with game elements.

Rising World is a lovely world

In the opening paragraphs, the MC has died, and he's offered a new life elsewhere, sort of like Heaven Can Wait. The MC has a choice between a human, a centaur, a fox and a few other races -- all of them in situations where they are about to die.

If you've seen the cover picture for this audiobook, you can guess what happens within the first few minutes. He's an inventor in a fantasy world.

I love this world. This fantasy world is NOT based on mass death. The relative peace and lack of looming danger allowed me to enjoy the world of many different races more. Medieval, low tech, and the locals don't know about many of the inventions of the past 500 years, giving the fox inventor an advantage. The main characters are all likable.

I very much liked this one.

for science nerds who also love D&D.

I enjoyed it and look forward to a sequel. It has a great world and good characters but lacks drama to motivate the reader. learning about discovering the world with uts characters are what keep you going through this book. I hope the sequel thickens the plot and adds some suspense.

A intresting start to a Series.

A little dry overall in the writing in the beginning. The story picks up some and I found it difficult to stop listening by the second half of the book.

Great book

There are many LitRPGs with epic battles and high stakes, but I enjoy how this one was more about discovery and character building rather than that. Also, I could relate to the MC given how many new ideas he has versus finishing existing projects.

The narration was good.

Looking forward to the next audiobook!

had potential but done wrong

this could have been a good list but most of the story is told as from the author telling what is happening in the story. instead of telling you the story.
