Publisher's summary

Mexico is famous for its rich culture, ancient ruins, dazzling beaches, and spicy cuisine. But there is a darker side to America's southern neighbour, with vicious gangs dealing in drugs. extortion, money laundering, human trafficking and contract killings. Jack Nightingale came across his fair share of villains when he worked for the Metropolitan Police in London. But nothing could prepare him for the evil that was waiting for him when he crossed the Rio Grande river and entered Mexico - an evil that is hunting for an immortal soul. A very special soul.

I Love Jack Nightingale but he needs to step up

I have loved Jack since he was told he was going to die. He has survived numerous outings and even some if you like me have read the short stories. I believe its time he started being harder, meaner and able to take out the bad guy or two ahead of time or even a lot of them at once. I love Jack I love the performer and noone can do it better than Paul Thornley. We have had over ten books of demons and one possible angel. I know its time that the right hand path got sick of what is going on and started showing up. I want to see Proserpine crap her proverbial goth girl outfit when possibly Gabriel or Michael showed up to put stop to a deal. The demons take the free agency away and the right hand path has been silent, I really want to see them show up.
For what you really want
Was the purchase worth it, Hell yes, Jack is Jack and great, Paul Thornley is the best. The story was good and gripping with several difficult situations. If you love Jack you'll love this one, if you have not read Jack this book is great but not the one to start with. Too many topics relating to the past that are not necessary but add the needed flavor to the story.
Would I recommend this in a heartbeat at full price. Well worth and I hope Jack keeps coming but like I said earlier I would like to see some of the right hand path start showing up,
Thank you Jack and Joshua for doing what you.

Let’s start wrapping this up

I’ve listened to / read all of the jack nightingale books. At this point it feels like we’re on a treadmill that never ends. What are we moving toward? I hope we start to get some overaching plot progression and resolution soon.

Also, this one is absolutely littered with racist/anti-Mexican ideas. I’m willing to give it a pass as it’s fiction, but holy hell if this book wasn’t inspired by Trumps rhetoric about Mexican rapists and murderers, I’d be surprised.

I found myself losing interest halfway through

I think I have read every book published by Stephen (aside from the erotic series) and I will always listen to his work, especially if narrated by Paul Thornley, but this really didn’t do it for me. I lost track of the ‘associates’ killed en route here as I really lost interest halfway through. I do t think this series has come to an end, but I did find this very samey and couldn’t keep my interest.
