Great narration matched by an intriguing storyline

Gotta say, the narration by JH was fantastic. Spot on with inflection, cadance and subtle changes between character's ensured it was not jarring or distracting.

loved the unique storyline and the plentiful twists. placing my pre-order for book 2 now!

Fun story, narrator is odd

the book is fun but the Narrators's cadence and tone throws me off sometimes. He puts weird spaces in that don't belong almost like he's stopping and turning the page of the book and then starting again.

Looking forward to next book

Perhaps low reread ability. I did enjoy the plot but I don't know if I'm going to be listening to it over and over at some of my favorite books. I hope that I can find the second book now and if not that I don't have to wait long for the next!

There was one review that said that the narrator read without changing his tone with anybody else but that he did make an attempt at two different accents and totally failed. The accents do suck however they're not that bad and you can kind of ignore it. Ask for her is changing of tone he doesn't do a lot of that but I'm kind of glad because when narrators go too far and they don't do a good job it is very distracting and this narrators speech and voice allowed the narrator to fade into the background so that I can just become aware of the story and to me that's really the best kind of narration when I'm not really paying attention or even aware of the narrator

Could not complete

Putting aside the narrator’s annoying voice, I was enjoying the book till around chapter 21 when it all got a bit silly when the immortals and their rules entered the plot. Couldn’t listen anymore.

Interesting premise

The premise is quiet different and interesting. The action is tame but good anyway. The drama is light but engaging.
The author uses a unique method; that is the use of the first-person for two different people, without warning. At first I was confused as the switch between characters happens at a chapter break. I went back and listened to the end of the previous chapter again. Confused I just continued on. Later things became obvious.
Engaging, but is not a stand alone work. It needs the next book to be a complete work.
Recommended for time travel readers.

Great story, but desperately needed fact checking before publishing.

This is a great story. It will keep you reading until the end of the book. That being said, If you are a stickler for details, it may drive you crazy, unless you tell yourself it was written in an alternate timeline. The historical inaccuracies in the book make me want to put on a radiation suit, and spend 15 hours convincing the author to fact check before publishing. I hate spoilers, so I’m not going to say how these details impact the story, but the Korean War started on June 25, 1950, and ended on July 27, 1953. Also, fulsome prison blues was released on January 1, 1955. A simple query of Alexa, end changing the story so the details matched, would have made Reading this tail a much more enjoyable experience for me. The author is obviously a talented writer, so I don’t want to be too harsh, but even if you self publish, you have to get facts right, or explain the incongruities.
