Publisher's summary

Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." That's the offer of Christianity, from God himself.

Just look at what happens when people are touched by Jesus: the blind see, the lame walk, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life. In other words, to be touched by God is to be restored. To become all God meant you to be. That is what Christianity is supposed to do for you; make you whole, set you free, bring you fully alive.

But Jesus also warned that the path to that life is narrow, and few people would find it. You'll notice few have. Waking the Dead will help you find that life, see the fierce battle over your heart, and embrace all that God has for you.

There is so much more. Do you want it?

Critic reviews

"The book...has an unguarded heart and an opinionated lucidity that may surprise readers. Eldredge is honest about the fact that life can be arduous, confusing and filled with despair, but he also affirms a deep Christian hope." (Publishers Weekly)

Excellent

I was leary of listening to another christian book for fear that it might be slow and boring but not this one! It was fresh, fast and inspiring. The author challenged me again and again to renew my faith and see my life as a journey of faith. I will listen to this again.

Centering on the goodness of heart!

Very well and passionately read. The central premise focusing not on the need to become alive in Christ, where that is essential, but rather how Christ is extending an invitation to view your heart the way He see's it. Through this He guides you into an understanding that the true desire of our hearts is to dwell in His presence and navigate inner healing and facilitate healing in others!

Eye opening and powerful!

I wanted to keep listening. It was hard to stop, because I was so hungry for the hope that was expressed through the words. However, the depth was so hard to absorb, that I had to listen in small bits. I needed time to pray through it. My mind would wander off and explore what was said and I would miss the next part. This is a book that will need to be listened to again and again to fully comprehend the whole message that is being taught.

Mandatory Reading For ALL Christians

I think this book along with the beliefs held by the author will revolutionize Christianity from the soft, goody two shoe, Jesus pin wearing, bible toting, non-impact having, Christians to vibrant real people of faith who love God no matter the cost and love others enough to be real. It could possibly be the greatest work (along with Wild at Heart) since Luther's reformation. Please read with an open heart. More importantly listen how God feels about what Eldrege is saying. Onward Christian Soldiers!

Easy Listen, But Challenging

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The book really challenges you to listen to what God is doing instead of what the enemy is doing.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Waking the Dead?

The concept that my heart is good is something I'd like to consider more and more.

Which character – as performed by Kelly Dolan – was your favorite?

The read was enjoyable and engaging. Not dry at all...really enjoyed the narration.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

A little too much to digest in one sitting, but I kept coming back to it again and again.

Good Read

I liked this book, it did follow along the same lines as Walking with God. Eldgredge uses a lot of stories, myths in his books which I wish he wouldnt do AS much. some is good, but I think it is over used. Yes Jesus used parables, stories to get a point across to those that wouldnt understand it in the first place, but then would explain it to his diciples. Just my 2 cents. I did like the general information of the book it was worth the read.
