    "Steps to freedom!"

This book is a wonderful book introducing the Steps to Freedom in Christ. Neil Anderson narrated his own book so you definately know what the author was expressing during the writings. I recommend this book to anyone struggling with circumstances and life in general. This book will explain why and how these feelings rise in someone and how to regain the peace and faith in God.

"Helped me know who I truly am"

I've listened twice and I expect to listen a few more times shortly. Why? Well, something in the telling of it really brought home that I don't need to try to be what I already am: God's child. Hallelujah!

the best tagline for this book: For God's Children: Stop trying to be what you already are

    "Who are you?"

I have this book in paperback, so this audio is a review for me. It was comforting and renewing to internalize again. In a conversational tone, (with a few chuckles along the way), Dr. Anderson reminds you WHO YOU ARE in Christ, which enables you to "fight the good fight". It's like having him sitting in your living room with you or having a cup of coffee with him at your dining room table. I recommend it to all Christians. After reading this book the first time, I had an online conversation with a sister who obviously had not heard these things at her church. In the course of the conversation, she commented, "well who do you think I am, some princess, or something?" My answer was, "not in and of yourself, but by virtue of who you are in Christ, yes, you are a princess". Some of the chapter titles: "Who are you?" "Forever different" "See Yourself for Who You Really Are" "Something Old, Something New" "Becoming the Spiritual Person You Want to Be" "The Power of Positive Believing" "You Can't Live Beyond What You Believe" "Winning the Battle for Your Mind" "Healing Emotional Wounds from Your Past".
This is not a book on spiritual warfare, per se, but if it interests you, he has written "The Bondage Breaker" and "The Beginner's Guide to Spiritual Warfare", among others.

    "Lots of freeing truth."

I've had this book on my shelf for over a decade. As I am faced with being called into the counseling ministry, I've been studying and allowing Christ to live out life through me. This gave me a lot of tips concerning strongholds and overcoming them. I would suggest this book to anyone. I enjoyed the authors own flavor as he read. It was not only informative but easy to listen to.

    "This book really helped me."
What made the experience of listening to Victory Over the Darkness the most enjoyable?

Clear, simple truths presented in a positive, honest and direct way. Not too "clean and proper" like so many bad Christian books. Really helpful metaphors and symbols. A few silly jokes and the reader sometimes stammers and trips over his words but still, this is definitely the best Christian book I have read outside of The Bible and the Narnia series. Great for a beginning or confused Christian like me. Explains the faith in a clear, easy to absorb manner. The emphasis on the perfect family life that ruins so many Christian books is here kept to a minimum. It doesn't assume all the listeners are married with children like so many others. Great for someone new to Christianity or has been put off by Christians in the past, someone who is looking for something real and deep yet simple.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Yes, in places, but it didn't ruin the book at all. He stammers at times but it's not too bad.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Most of it touched me. This book just spoke to me.

    Any additional comments?

I have the book version too and this seems to be different. It's possibly expanded or else the reader uses the text as a base from which to give his talk. Sounds more like a talk than someone reading a book. Still, brilliant, helpful words for those struggling with darkness and depression.
