Although the journey is challenging, Eckhart Tolle offers simple language in a question and answer format. The words themselves are the signposts to guide you on your journey. There are new discoveries to be made along the way: you are not your mind, you can find your way out of psychological pain, authentic human power is found by surrendering to the Now. When you become fully present and accepting of what is, you open yourself to the transforming experience of The Power of Now.

Best book for me ever
I'll do my best to spread the word about the power of NOW!
About the best I can say is that this was a good book to fall asleep with...Eckhart Tolle's voice is perfect for lulling one into sleep.
I don't regret listening, but would not bother listening to anything else by the same author. To paraphrase Dorothy Parker, "There is just not enough there...there." This is not enough of a new take on life (either generally or -- as the title suggests -- living in the moment) to offer illumination or guidance.
This book changed how I see the world and all the things, that seemed so "normal" to achieve (bigger, better..) Don't read (listen) if you object Tolle's voice or if you looking for new stuff to add to your "mind". You'll be happier with a "How to...in 7 days" book. Tolle can give you a new way to just "be" but it will not be something your mind could achieve, because it won't let you just be. I found this book to be the most important in my life so far. As long as you judge authors by how they live though (be it on a park bench or in a big home) you're definetly not ready for it.
Since I began a yoga practice almost a years ago, I have been looking for ways to extend the physical benefits to my mental practice. While I found the Autobiography of a Yogi very good, and also some of Deepak Chopra's writings, this book really crystallized what I have been intuitively moving toward with my mental and physical practice. It is so compelling I have now listened to it two times and am beginning the third. I cannot recommend it too highly. . .if you are ready. . . I don't think I would have been a year ago and without the foundation of the yoga practice.
Im not a religious person but had to use this heading because I read this every day, just like some people do with the Bible. it is fantastic how, when I just open it at any page for the day it has something relavent for me pertaining to the day. Just one paragraph or sentence can speak volumes to me. it is not a book that you read from cover to cover and certainly not in one sitting.
...and now I've totally confused you (and myself) because I am supposed to be reviewing the audible version I suppose. Yes I have both and yes my review applies equally to both versions only a snippet at one sitting!
This is, without doubt, one of the best books I have ever read (including, as I do, both print and audio books in that group). Tolle's philosophy (if that's the right term - spirituality may be more appropriate) is straightforward but at the same time hard to implement without great concentration. Because of this, I recommend that you listen to this at home rather than on the road because if you don't pay close attention it's easy to lose the thread. I usually delete audio books from my MP3 player once I've read them, but not this one. I turn it on whenever I feel I need some existential orientation. Highly recommended.
i have studied eastern philosophy and have been meditating for over 15 years...very few books get to the essence of meditation and philosophy..it is so simple...yet impossible for our minds to grasp.being in the now is all there is and will ever be but it is not a concept..it is a state of being that is unreliant on understanding.his words are beautiful but far more blissful is the stillness he encourages you to seek inside you where it has always been and always will be and this bliss is there right now for you to seize
I found myself embracing the message of this book. However, as one previous reviewer put it "Listen to at least the first chapter, you will either get it or you won't". Ah, when the student is ready, the teacher appears. I am grateful that I was ready for this one. Truly awe-inspiring.
"Present Moment Awareness"
This book opens the door and gives a glimpse of a world I had not experienced since childhood. That of living in the present moment. A beautiful but very indepth read.
"Buy it NOW!"
The incredible power of this book stems from the simplicity of its teachings. Tolle presents a system so simple and undebiably true that it cannot help but work. I am not so sure I would have taken so much from the written book, so the audiobook is definitely the recommended format to absorb this timeless teaching. If you do only one thing to improve your life, then make that reading this book.
"Find TRUE & PERMANENT HAPPINESS - Amazing book"
I would just like to take this opportunity to thank the author for producing this book, an amazing, truly life changing experience. I recommend listening to this title in small chunks to really take in the PEARLS of WISDOM. Free yourself from your mind, find your inner happiness.
"I was sceptical"
Initially not sure whether this would be any good and thought maybe other reviewers were desperately looking for something that the rest of us knew was a bit 1960's and zen like. Maybe they are - maybe not. I don't think I am but I did find this surprisingly inciteful and useful. Lots of really down to earth good advice and good philosophical (and dare I say it) spiritiual food for thought. But to reiterate: useful and pragmatic from the start. Have listened to some bits a few times as it seems to make me think of things slightly differently each time.
"Incredible and life-changing"
This book is unbelievable. Eckhart Tolle's words resonated so deeply with many of my own experiences and difficult times. He makes life seem so simple and straightforward somehow. This book is very empowering, uplifting and has real power to change lives... I plan to listen to it at least once a month to remind myself about all that is wonderful about life and the human condition. I just can't recommend it highly enough.
"I now live in the present"
This was recommended to me as a book I should read. I am glad I did.
The book explains how we rush about in our daily lives, earning money and supposedly living. But how often do you sit and think about what you are doing 'now'.
I have learned to enjoy living in the 'now'
To listen to the sounds of nature and actually see nature growing.
There is so much beauty around us.
I would listen to the book again, if only to remind me, if I should forget, to live in the 'now'
The most memorable part was actually realising that I can listen and be in the present and it is peaceful and calm.
Eckhart's voice is calming. He pauses several times to allow you to take in what he is saying.
I listened to this book in 2 days. When the author told me to enjoy the moment, to listen, feel and taste the now, I felt that my life is suddenly going to be richer in experiences.
This has proved to be so in many experiences since.
"A profound spiritual book by an enlightened master"
There is a very good reason why this book/audiobook has sold millions and it is not because of clever publishing. Eckhart Tolle is one of the great living spiritual masters alive today. I have read probably 2000 books on spiritual life and been a transpersonal psychotherapist for 30 years, alongside practising meditation and yoga for 50 years. This short book is at the top. As a wise friend said to me "He speaks FROM the truth...not ABOUT the truth. He knows. You do not have to go far on the internet to find endless confirmations of what I am saying. It can be read/listened to indefinitely and every time it is fresh, because it is a transmission of truth, not ideas and theories about truth. It is also a manual on the path to enlightenment through the practice of presence ie. being here now His instructions are crystal clear. and you won't need an interpreter to know what he is saying and how to do it. It is Eckhart Tolle himself who reads the book. Very important as the vibration of truth is in his voice as well as his words. Worth its weight in platinum.
This audiobook was great and I genuinely consider it to be life changing. Tolle's teachings made me realise the root of my anxieties and hence unhappiness.
He gets quite spiritual at times, which doesn't particularly appeal to me, but the overall message is a wonderful one and has made me appreciate 'the now'.
This makes you put everything into perspective, and I found it truly inspiring. I definitely will be getting some more of his stuff.
"The Bible of All Self-Help Books"
If I could give something to every human being in this world it would be The Power of Now. Eckhart Tolle speaks with an authority that is so obviously from pure consciousness. I have many others in my collection, but this is the one I return to again and again. Without doubt, his words are divinely inspired.
