Although the journey is challenging, Eckhart Tolle offers simple language in a question and answer format. The words themselves are the signposts to guide you on your journey. There are new discoveries to be made along the way: you are not your mind, you can find your way out of psychological pain, authentic human power is found by surrendering to the Now. When you become fully present and accepting of what is, you open yourself to the transforming experience of The Power of Now.

"One of the best books to come along in years. Every sentence rings with truth and power." (Deepak Chopra)
"A reminder to be truly present in our own lives and liberated from our past and future. It can transform your thinking." (O: The Oprah Magazine)
Love Non-Fiction... true crime and anything Hay House.
Haven't finished listening. Moved on to other authors that speak more to my soul and are much easier to digest such as Wayne Dyer and Louise Hay. Even Caroline Myss is easier to digest than this!
This book has made a huge impact on my life. I am already feeling that I am well on my way to living the power of now. I love Eckhart Tolle's simple but profound message and I also love his voice when he narrates his book. I like the question answer format of this book and the message in this book is what I have been looking for intently for the past year. I listen to this audio book when driving and am on my second read. I get a calmness and peace that I have been wanting and needing for many years when I read this book. Thank you Eckhart Tolle for sharing your message with the world. What a lovely book!
For me, "The Power of Now" has become a great source of daily meditation. Tolle's lessons are important to everyone, especially for those wishing to master principled and exemplary leadership. It's the most important book on focus, self-fulfillment and spiritual enlightenment I've ever experienced. I feel myself becoming a better person everyday as a result of having a much healthier perspective on my past, present and future because of this book: especially the present.
In the top ten
It coincided with my personal quest. The ideas really resonated with me.
It often made me stop and think, or just sit and be present.
A wonderful book, very beautifully read. I recommend this highly to anyone who is on the path of self discovery.
Audio books can be listened to while driving which makes such good use of my time.
Once you get it is is so easy to be in the Now.
The other performances are better because this was his first recording. But the message of this one is fundamental to all his work.
It made me realize how much time I was wasting and the joy I was missing out on.
A must read!
this question does not make sense here as there's no characters
He's voice and manner of speaking adds something special to it
Yes, that's exactly what's happened
If you are new to Tolle's teachings, I would highly recommend starting with this recording. It lays a lot of foundation for his many other offerings, here on Audible. In this book, he distills the underlying message of the Buddha, as well as Jesus and other important spiritual messengers, into an accessible and current plan of action for the rest of us. Followed with his "A New Earth," this is enough to really affect transformation of consciousness in individuals ready to evolve... so worth the time and the "credit!"
If the person has high anxiety, I would recommend this to them to help calm their nerves. I may not have been able to connect with everything Tolle said, but the exercises to acknowledge and accept my current emotions or motives helped create a peaceful experience.
He has a calming, unemotional voice that adds to the meditation aspects of the book.
I've been listening to it over and over again. I feel calmer and more at peace after listening to it.
There are too many to write about.
Hearing it from the author
Eckhart's reference to Jesus as a devine being.
My hope is that everyone who wishes to live a blesssed life will find the Power of Now.
"Present Moment Awareness"
This book opens the door and gives a glimpse of a world I had not experienced since childhood. That of living in the present moment. A beautiful but very indepth read.
"Buy it NOW!"
The incredible power of this book stems from the simplicity of its teachings. Tolle presents a system so simple and undebiably true that it cannot help but work. I am not so sure I would have taken so much from the written book, so the audiobook is definitely the recommended format to absorb this timeless teaching. If you do only one thing to improve your life, then make that reading this book.
"Find TRUE & PERMANENT HAPPINESS - Amazing book"
I would just like to take this opportunity to thank the author for producing this book, an amazing, truly life changing experience. I recommend listening to this title in small chunks to really take in the PEARLS of WISDOM. Free yourself from your mind, find your inner happiness.
"I was sceptical"
Initially not sure whether this would be any good and thought maybe other reviewers were desperately looking for something that the rest of us knew was a bit 1960's and zen like. Maybe they are - maybe not. I don't think I am but I did find this surprisingly inciteful and useful. Lots of really down to earth good advice and good philosophical (and dare I say it) spiritiual food for thought. But to reiterate: useful and pragmatic from the start. Have listened to some bits a few times as it seems to make me think of things slightly differently each time.
"Incredible and life-changing"
This book is unbelievable. Eckhart Tolle's words resonated so deeply with many of my own experiences and difficult times. He makes life seem so simple and straightforward somehow. This book is very empowering, uplifting and has real power to change lives... I plan to listen to it at least once a month to remind myself about all that is wonderful about life and the human condition. I just can't recommend it highly enough.
"I now live in the present"
This was recommended to me as a book I should read. I am glad I did.
The book explains how we rush about in our daily lives, earning money and supposedly living. But how often do you sit and think about what you are doing 'now'.
I have learned to enjoy living in the 'now'
To listen to the sounds of nature and actually see nature growing.
There is so much beauty around us.
I would listen to the book again, if only to remind me, if I should forget, to live in the 'now'
The most memorable part was actually realising that I can listen and be in the present and it is peaceful and calm.
Eckhart's voice is calming. He pauses several times to allow you to take in what he is saying.
I listened to this book in 2 days. When the author told me to enjoy the moment, to listen, feel and taste the now, I felt that my life is suddenly going to be richer in experiences.
This has proved to be so in many experiences since.
"A profound spiritual book by an enlightened master"
There is a very good reason why this book/audiobook has sold millions and it is not because of clever publishing. Eckhart Tolle is one of the great living spiritual masters alive today. I have read probably 2000 books on spiritual life and been a transpersonal psychotherapist for 30 years, alongside practising meditation and yoga for 50 years. This short book is at the top. As a wise friend said to me "He speaks FROM the truth...not ABOUT the truth. He knows. You do not have to go far on the internet to find endless confirmations of what I am saying. It can be read/listened to indefinitely and every time it is fresh, because it is a transmission of truth, not ideas and theories about truth. It is also a manual on the path to enlightenment through the practice of presence ie. being here now His instructions are crystal clear. and you won't need an interpreter to know what he is saying and how to do it. It is Eckhart Tolle himself who reads the book. Very important as the vibration of truth is in his voice as well as his words. Worth its weight in platinum.
This audiobook was great and I genuinely consider it to be life changing. Tolle's teachings made me realise the root of my anxieties and hence unhappiness.
He gets quite spiritual at times, which doesn't particularly appeal to me, but the overall message is a wonderful one and has made me appreciate 'the now'.
"A Very Worthy Listen"
This popularity of this title stirred my interest. A quick google search revealed a lot of people who found its contents to be life changing and I've since heard of some groups that meet regularly to discuss its content or "teachings". I was a little sceptical but curious none the less. Eckhart Tolle's voice is very mellow and soothing so it makes for easy listening. I like the way he has alternate voices posing questions on his teachings which he then responds to (though at one point in a somewhat frustrated/condescending manner - which I found rather hilarious given his calm demeanour) It gets a bit preachy in places with frequent references to god, and was a little bit far-fetched in other places. For the most part however I felt there was some very interesting ideas here that I could apply in some small way to my own life, such as letting go of past experiences through which you identify yourself with and focusing too much on a future that might never be. Although I loved his idea of relinquishing all time, even he admits himself that's its not very practical in today's world. Overall it made me feel grateful for the wonderfully imperfect circumstances which I find myself in right now - Cheers Eckhart!
This makes you put everything into perspective, and I found it truly inspiring. I definitely will be getting some more of his stuff.
