Publisher's summary

A dark lie. A darker truth. They killed a homeless veteran. They tried to cover it up. Jack Widow won’t let that stand.

Widow passes through DC. Hanging out, reading the morning paper. He learns about a homeless vet found burned alive on a park bench. The Vet has no known family. No one’s expected to attend his wake. Widow must go.

He meets a lawyer who claims there’s a sizable inheritance at the service: a stock portfolio worth fifty million dollars.

What’s a homeless vet doing with that amount of secret money?

Widow follows a trail of murder and treason that leads him to a terrifying conspiracy.

Widow is an honorable man

This book is action packed from the get-go! A homeless vet is murdered and made to look like a horrific accident. Incidentally, Widow is in town killing time until his bus departs…and sees the article and notes that the vet has no relatives. The patriotic Widow attends the man’s wake and meets his estate attorney, who offers Widow a job to help look for the vet’s daughter. Widow declines but visits the crime scene and finds evidence that the vet was murdered. Widow is not one to let injustice slide…woe to the bad guys…as he fights for justice. Another great book!

Another good thriller

A good book you just can’t put down. Justice is Jack Widow’s signature and fun to read/listen to.

Another Fantastic Ride With Jack Widow

I normally buy the hardcover versions of my favorite authors, but this is one series that I will only get the audible version of the book. Scott Blade is a fantastic storyteller with great plots and has the best protagonist in any series. Alan Philip Ormond is in my opinion the best narrator that is out there, and he is Jack Widow. I would recommend this series of books to anyone that likes strong male characters with integrity.

Another good one…

The Jack Widow books continue to climb my list of favorite action hero’s. Only complaint would be that the book seemed to end a little abruptly.

Better Than Jack Reacher!!

Scott Blade is the new king of fiction thriller. If you like Jack Reacher, you will love Jack Widow! And Philip Ormond the narrator, is superb! I love Dick Hill as Jack Reacher, but I actually believe Philip Ormond is just as good as Jack Widow! I am so glad I came across this series. I will faithfully purchase every single one (as long as he keeps his politics out of it).

Almost perfect

This really felt like one of the best mixes of story line and action. Although there is unfortunately always at least a sprinkle of wokism nowadays with those passionate young editors, it felt overly forced and unnecessarily preachy here to have the “special” relationship of the two deceased soldiers. Otherwise, near perfect. And for those who are fans of this series and this amazing narrator, I recommend listening to “And Justice for One” which was apparently written pre-cell phones but in some ways makes it even better.

Best Book in Series

The character development of Jack Widow made significant strides in Patriot Lies. The display of humor, both tacit and dark were welcoming. I actually laughed out loud at one point. Also nice to see a little summary of justice at the end. If one wants to get picky, you can find points to argue. But if you read for entertainment and a break from the 24/7 news cycle, you’ll thoroughly enjoy the work Scott put into Patriot Lies. And a flawless performance by Alan Phillip Ormond!

Typical

Jack Widow is careless, inconsistent, unreliable, and unrealistic but entertaining. I could never trust Widow because his instincts are always flawed. Widow always need a gun but never carry one; for someone who supposes to be very intelligent, he’s clueless about everything obvious. By the way, his love of coffee is the most annoying thing about this character.
