A funny thing happened....

Unlike most men of his acquaintance, Gregory Bridgerton believes in true love. And he is convinced that when he finds the woman of his dreams, he will know in an instant that she is the one. And that is exactly what happened. Except....

She wasn’t the one. In fact, the ravishing Miss Hermione Watson is in love with another. But her best friend, the ever-practical Lady Lucinda Abernathy, wants to save Hermione from a disastrous alliance, so she offers to help Gregory win her over. But in the process, Lucy falls in love. With Gregory! Except....

Lucy is engaged. And her uncle is not inclined to let her back out of the betrothal, even once Gregory comes to his senses and realizes that it is Lucy, with her sharp wit and sunny smile, who makes his heart sing. And now, on the way to the wedding, Gregory must risk everything to ensure that when it comes time to kiss the bride, he is the only man standing at the altar....

Surprisingly Amazing

I was completely sure I wasn't going to like it. The series is really a bit of a hit or miss. But this one was just so charming and cute. I was overcome with emotions.

Gregory wasn't really in most of the series except for a handful of moments at the start and then in Eloise's book and Hyacinth. So, I had no idea what to expect. With most of the Bridgeton brothers they all somehow have this mystery temper that seems to come from no where (particularly, Benedict and Colin). But Gregory was just about the sweetest and and most delightful character in his own right with such a kind heart. He does get angry, but there's always a reason for it. Gregory is quite possibly the best Bridgeton brother.

Lucy is also amazing and has a personality I could certainly relate to. Her wit is just perfect. I adore her. I adore them.

Will say, I wish the author hadn't spent so much time on the wedding bit. Like yes, I know it's in the title, but it took way too long to wrap up that bit to get to Gregory and Lucy finally getting together. Would have love to have seen more of the after. As opposed to a mention of it. It's still a good story, just a ran a little to long when the outcome was always going to be Gregory and Lucy in the end.

Definitely recommend though!

La-la-la-la-Lucy

Another good book from Julia Quinn - I love the Bridgerton family! With that being said, I found myself extremely frustrated with “Lucy”. The name itself was read/said about 7,000 times through out the book - way too many!
Also, I can appreciate a selfless, some-what helpless character, but sometimes, it transforms into careless stupidity. I wish Lucy wouldn’t have been quite so pitiful.
Overall, I enjoyed it!

On the Way to the Wedding

Another awesome Bridgestone story by Julia Quinn. This story of Gregory and Lucie is romance, mysteries, and surprises right to the last sentence. Great listen!!

Crowning Glory of the entire Bridgerton Series

I love this series. I love the character. Rosalyn Landor’s narration gets better with every book. The first book, about Daphne and Simon, was extremely well written and wonderful fun. Then Penelope and Collin’s story stole my heart, and as a couple, they will always be my favorite. Then this book happened…..it changed everything. It is the icing on the romantic cake, and the kooky closeness of this exceptional family. I want to be a Bridgerton!

This book stands out, not so much for the main characters, Gregory and Lucy, but for the way it is woven and written. Julia Quinn obviously honed her talent through writing the previous books, because the end result is this one. Like a fencing student learns to wield a sword, Julia learned to wield her pen with a skillful flourish and carved her cursive initials indelibly and beautiful on my heart. She doesn’t get out of the way of the story. She thumbs her nose at the lessons taught about authors being invisible storytellers. She makes sure you know she is there in every genius stroke and turn of the story. She isn’t shy. She boldly goes *there* like her heroines often do even though it was not accepted and unseemly. Her dialogue is masterfully brilliant. I don’t know where she learned the polish. The art of a polite reply of the era, her characters unfailingly responding, always with utmost etiquette and decorum, and she “footnotes” when they don’t (just so you know she knows). I get the feeling that Julia loves Hyacinth the most. Perhaps they are so much alike they are practically the same person.

Rosalyn Landor picks up the storyline and runs with it. She knows exactly what tone to use with every line, and delivers nothing short of perfection. In my own imagination , I could never read it so precise. If I ever read the books on my own, it will be Rosalyn’s voice in my head.

Some series, that are of such length, peter out before completion. The last book drags across the finish line, gasping, wheezing and crying uncle. Or they are thrown across by an author who has grown tired, weary and bored and just wants to be done. That doesn’t happen here. Julia Quinn is still as much in love with her characters, their lives and their world, as she was in the beginning, maybe even more so. Rosalyn is every bit as invested and engaged. No fade away with this one. It goes out with fireworks.
