Publisher's summary

Secret heir.

Pompous womanizer.

King of lies.

And my protector.

Hunter McQuaid is definitely a fish out of water. Or maybe a shark out of the tank.

He's a cocky, arrogant, playboy. Something he shouldn't be considering he can barely scrape together the rent for his craptastic apartment.

After an ill-advised one-nighter with him, I end up pregnant. Which puts me in a precarious position. I can't be pregnant and also protect my daughter. Because protecting her means risking my unborn child. There's no way to protect them both.

Until my cocky, arrogant, playboy baby daddy, who is so not father material, comes up with a plan.

Hunter becomes my protector. My savior. My doting fiancé. The problem is, it's all fake. And if my father finds out about it, I may end up worse off than before.

Falling for my fake fiancé is not what I expected. I'm in deep. And I'm swimming with sharks.

But I'll do anything to protect my kids. Even if it means breaking my own heart.

No Easy Dare is a standalone novel.

Hunter and Willow

*****SPOILER ALERT*****

This is the type of story Samantha Christy is known for. It's compelling, heartfelt, and has a few unexpected twists. Well done!

KU borrow, Alexa app listen. Dual POV. Book 2 in the McQuaid Brothers trilogy. This is the first time I've noticed narrator Jason Clarke's frequent inhales directly into his mic. Content warnings: gambl¡ng; unplanned pregnancy after one quick hookup; step-father physically abusing adult step-daughter (on page domestic violence); h believes her "dad" drugged and r@ped her when she turned 18, and is the father of her daughter (not only is he not her father but he isn't her child's father); two murders; r@cism; sexism; and financial blackmail.

Hunter McQuaid (28; aka Hunter Gulliver) is a wealthy playboy living off the interest from the trust fund Tucker McQuaid, his billionaire grandfather, set up for him. When his grandfather overhears Hunter's conversation about a bet he placed Tucker decides it's time for Hunter to grow up. The next day Tucker meets with Hunter, gives him an envelope of cash, and challenges him to live in an apartment of Tucker's choice for one year. Tucker takes Hunter's phone, wallet, last name, and the rings off of his fingers. If Hunter is successful, Tucker will double his trust fund, and turn it over to him. Although unhappy being financially blackmailed, Hunter accepts the challenge thinking it won't be difficult. Wilhelmina Emersyn DuBois (25; aka Willow) is a single mother, raising her daughter Isabelle Charmaine DuBois (7; aka Izzy), and working for her father's French takeout restaurant. Willow's life has been difficult since her mother's tragic death when Willow was 16, and her boyfriend's death when she was 18. Hunter's new apartment happens to be in Willow's apartment building and the two hookup on his first day......

I thought Samantha Christy had lost her edge but I couldn't put this book down. This story kept me invested and I couldn't wait to see how it turned out. JP

Loved Hunter and Willow!

No Easy Dare by Samantha Christy was a wild, emotional surprise pregnancy/ fake fiancé romance that sent my heart on a rollercoaster ride. I loved everything about Willow and Hunter’s romance.

Jason Clarke and Summer Roberts performed this audiobook in dual narration, and both did a fantastic job bringing Willow and Hunter to life. Summer showcased Willow’s vulnerable and protective mama bear persona perfectly, and Jason’s growly tone captures Hunter’s reluctant and loyal loving personality brilliantly.

Overall I enjoyed this audiobook and look forward to more from Samantha Christy.

Enjoyed…

Always enjoy Mr. Clarke - 20/10, as always. Like Summer Roberts - swear she sounds like the woman from House Hunters. Greatly enjoyed the story - can’t wait to hear the next book.

That was great

This story was very emotional and had me feeling all the emotions. I loved how the story unfolded with lots of traps to make sure everyone looked one way so that you didn’t guess what was going on. I loved this series. On to the next book. I hope that there’s another book about the sister.
