A solid follow up to the first book

This is a trilogy that I would have probably overlooked, but I got a free copy of the audiobook from the narrator. The first book was surprisingly solid and an unexpected pleasure. This sequel was also very solid, although I preferred the story in the first book slightly better.

The plot in this book follows more along the lines of a near future military thriller, which is a subgenre I enjoy. It is well written, and the characters are mostly enjoyable and believeable, well except for the antagonist who is a melodramatic bitch, but as that is clearly by design, solid character writing. The book still features a couple of rape scenes, but I felt they were less intense than in the first book.

Overall, the things I like about this book, and the last book is the way the author blends a traditional sungenre with its tropes, but still manages to introduce unique ideas to give the story something new. In this book one of those ideas is that when the humans were returned to earth at the end of the prior book, well they weren't returned to their original earth, they were returned to a slightly parallel earth. Oops! They have been spending their time since then dealing with that. It's almost a horror element, being returned to an earth that is close to yours, but not exactly, and then having to deal with a seemingly omnipotent force that is trying to invade.

Overall, I liked it and have already purchased the audiobook for the third book and am starting it now. As for the audiobook version, I think it is even better than the first one, Skylar does a very solid job and I can't wait to hear more from him.

Craziness continues

Cass a& Tamat are both in it to win it. Lol
Who will succeed in their mental power struggle. Lewis is an unwilling pawn in the game. Interdenominational alternate earth realities collide.
Narration by Skyler Morgan was excellent.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
