Publisher's summary

A woman on the run with no one to trust...

When a Christmas vacation at a snowy Mt. Hood cabin turns into a home invasion, Jenna Paine will do anything to protect her four-year-old daughter. Even if it means putting Jenna's own life on the line. Which she must do when the intruder threatens to kill her. She knows the invader will stop at nothing to take her out, and she can’t let him get close or he might harm her daughter too.

She wants to disappear, but she can’t survive on her own.

In fact, Jenna would be dead now if Brendan Byrd of Nighthawk Security hadn’t come to her rescue during the invasion. Former Army Delta Force and county deputy, Brendan doesn’t think twice about offering his agency’s protection services for Jenna and her precious daughter. What he does think twice about is opening his heart to Jenna only to have it broken again. But as the threats escalate, he must hone his vision where she’s concerned, figure out this crafty attackers identity, and in the process, find a way to keep her alive.

Don’t wait to listen to this!

These characters captured my heart in every way and I couldn’t stop listening! While I started feeling invested in the lives of these characters in the first book, the humanity brought to them in the second is beyond what I’ve experienced in almost any book. Everyone has their own story. Everyone has their own journey. And everyone is working through it as their lives weave together. I felt all the feels while being completely captivated by the suspense plot. The only downside to this book is that it ends. :-D

Good, predictable, way too cutsie

This book didn’t grab me quite like the first, but it was good. My main complaint is not the story line- although when the plot was unraveled, it was pretty dull really-the reason for all the drama a bit weak. What drives me a bit crazy in these books are these young kids, in this case a four year old, who are excessively talkative, (AND talk above their age level and comprehension. Every. Single. Time.) so darling, say cute but embarrassing things- and ends up turning the book into a cutsie book, too sweet, with endless heart melting happening to the big He-Man hero. The narrator is good, and in a way she did perfectly in imitating the child, but it just contributed to the fakeness of the character and the predictability of the book. Overall the story was fine, others may enjoy that kind of story/narration, but I don’t. That combined with the weakness of plot makes it a book I’m not 💯 sure I’d listen to again....

A Good Book

Not as good as the first book. The storyline didn’t make sense and was all over the place. The narration of the child’s voice was HORRIBLE and VERY ANNOYING. She had such a whiny voice. I almost stopped listening because it was that bad.

Twists & turns with lots of love

I really love the Byrd family. It shows how fantastic a family can be when the family is Christ centered. No matter the problem, God is there to walk with you.
This book has lots of twists and turns, multiple bad guys. And very good guys who figure everything out!
Excellent book
Loved the narrator!

Ok..except for two of the voices.

The story is pretty good, but two of the characters are voiced in a way that made me cringe. :-(
Jenna’s voice is scared and trembly the entire time. Yikes.
Carly’s voice oddly shrill and way too babyish. Double yikes.
Scenes without Jenna and Carly are a huge improvement.

Not A Fan

Too cheesy. Tried to like this author, and even went on to book number 2, but it wasn’t even as good as the first one.
