Publisher's summary

The best-selling legal thriller - and CBS TV series - has charismatic defense attorney Mickey Haller taking on a slam-dunk court case involving a Beverly Hills playboy - but as it spirals into a nightmare, he finds himself in a fight for his life.

Mickey Haller is a Lincoln Lawyer, a criminal defense attorney who operates out of the backseat of his Lincoln Town Car, traveling between the far-flung courthouses of Los Angeles to defend clients of every kind. Bikers, con artists, drunk drivers, drug dealers - they're all on Mickey Haller's client list. For him, the law is rarely about guilt or innocence, it's about negotiation and manipulation. Sometimes it's even about justice.

A Beverly Hills playboy arrested for attacking a woman he picked up in a bar chooses Haller to defend him, and Mickey has his first high-paying client in years. It is a defense attorney's dream, what they call a franchise case. And as the evidence stacks up, Haller comes to believe this may be the easiest case of his career. Then someone close to him is murdered and Haller discovers that his search for innocence has brought him face-to-face with evil as pure as a flame.

To escape without being burned, he must deploy every tactic, feint, and instinct in his arsenal - this time to save his own life.

Very Good Book

Well written, fast paced story and very well read. The ending was a bit hokey, but still one of the best lawyer books I have read.

Great story but odd recording

Great voice. He gives it a solid, gritty feel which adds a scent of authenticity to the questionable morals of a defense attorney.

Unfortunately, The recording plays music like the book is ending after each chapter. This gets annoying since each audible track includes multiple book chapters.

Edge of seat compelling.

Would you listen to The Lincoln Lawyer again? Why?

My husband and I made excuses to drive around in the car where we listened to Lincoln Lawyer with intenseness.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I like when the clues lead me to guessing the outcome and offer twists and turns to keep me on my toes with suspense.

Which character – as performed by Adam Grupper – was your favorite?

The lawyer Michael was my favorite because he seemed like a real person who questioned his morals and how to merge those standards into his life and career.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed, I cried and I learned a few questionable things about the justice system.

Any additional comments?

It left us eager to download our next book and take a long drive so we could listen to another.

Free Legal Advice - A Must Listen!

For the average laymen unfamiliar with handcuffs or proceedings, this turns out to be a very good (listeners lesson) on what can/does take place in the criminal process of investigation, arraignment, plea, trial and all the intricate maneuvers a defense could employ.

Long character development to start which could have been shortened, but once I got past all that, I stayed awake all night, the remaining 8 hours of the listen without sleep. I was numb with the realization there really are (Sick People) out there. This is a chiller, and would make an excellent (Dont go, Im Frightened to be alone tonight) Movie. Wow, what a listen!

Lincoln Lawyer

Absolutely one of the best books I have listened to in the last year. This is the first book I have heard by Michael Connelly and look forward to listening to more. Adam Grupper does a wonderful job in delivering the point. This book will keep your attention from start to finish.

Listen & "Watch" a top Broadway play

Grupper brings every character alive. Not only are the accents wonderful to hear, but the attitudes of each comes through to the degree you are seeing them as well as hearing them. The story becomes true, the participants are real.

The Lincoln Lawyer

The story was exciting. The reader was excellent. One of the best books I have listened to. I would listen to any books the reader did, he was articulate and easy to hear the different voices used for the different people.

This is the guy that set the standard

Mickey Haller the smack talking lawyer, has set the gold standard for lawyer books...Michael Connelly paid his dues writing Harry Bosch detective stories but when he introduced us to an attorney that offices out of the back seat of his car, has an ex motorcycle gang member as an investigator, and the investigators girl friend on payroll, ex wife he still has a thing for and on top of everything else he has a teenaged daughter! Read the book it's great!

A shady lawyer with a conscience

Really impressed with everything about this book. Cynical lawyer (obsessed with money) and family problems, defending obviously guilty clients, this could have developed into an extended cliche. I kept thinking I had worked out the next twist and turn, had it partially confirmed and then something unexpected (but believable) leapt into the picture. The narrator does a great job with the various characters - especially good at conveying the mood of aggressive cops and making the lead character sympathetic. I almost wished I had studied Law rather than Chemistry and later teaching.... almost, but not quite. I'll buy the next in the series - not something I often do,

Entertaining and engaging

I enjoyed this book. It had enough unpredictable moments to keep you engaged and is very well read. I would recommend it for people that enjoy detective and courtroom plots.
