The gripping story of life on the inside and the outside of one of Britain's toughest prisons.
Donna Brunos worships her husband and is devastated when he is jailed for armed robbery. Georgio swears he's been set up and persuades Donna to help him escape. Implementing 'the jump' takes Donna into a twilight world she never believed existed - a world of brutal sex and casual violence. Finally, she is confronted by a series of shattering revelations that threaten not only everything she believes in but also, ultimately, her own life....

I love Annie's range on accents. Though, her scottish was a bit of a let down. Anyhoo, she is by far the best narrator Audible has. The only bit I didn't like fully about this book is the unsavoury part of the plot which I will not spoil for others. It made it difficult to get through some parts and I probably won't listen to this book again. I mean I finished it because I needed to know how it all turned out. BUT i normally re listen to Martina/Annie books a few times in case I missed something and for entertainment value. But because of the aforementioned unsavoury element of the plot, I can't re-listen to this one. I really had hoped that Donna would have done something better with the money... you know?
Donna should have used the money as a sanctuary or other sort of foundation for the victims.
Love a great book that stays with you long after you've finished it.
A typical Martina Cole novel. Repetitive in places, intriguing, but not a best seller.
Overall an average listen, good narration.
Listened to half a dozen Martina Cole books and this is the best so far. Great story line and Annie Aldington brings the story to life. Best narrator by far
"It just got better"
As a man I still loved the plot, totally amazing characters throughout .An insight into the criminal world with no holds barred,
"Usual high standard"
For those who are fans of Martina's style you'll love this, it's also one of her earlier works and more focused on the view from inside prison which is great-also great twist.
"OK but lead character is annoying"
although the story is good the lead character Donna is so irritating I found myself wanting her bits to finish.
exciting and pacy! loved this book. characters were big and believable! great twist too. loved it.
Loved it and a must for Martian Cole fans ... But I have to say Annie Aldington is unbelievable I can't get enough of her style , her narration is simply perfect . I will buy more book from various authors if she is the narrator 😍 X
"Another excellent listen"
Another epic performance by Annie Aldington, each charactor has their own persona. A strong story well worth the listen, a number of twists and turns but again not one for those easily offended by bad language.
"another excellent book by my favourite author."
gripping until the very end with more twists and turns to the story. I just love her books
Everything I expect in Martina Cole books.
Strong woman, grit and no holds barred descriptive language.
Would recommend again, now on to her next one.
"Unpleasant and distasteful"
I am inclined to agree with the reviewer who described this as patronising drivel, I find it hard to describe what I hated about it except that I found the narrator terrible and annoying, the storyline was also annoying, it is as though the characters were never exposed to real life before being plunged into this story especially Donna who appears to be some kind of simpleton. I rarely write bad reviews but in this instance I felt obliged to share, I feel that some people may like this book but it was not for me, I'll stick with Mo Hayder and Stephen Leather to name but a couple.
