Publisher's summary

The fourth entry in the irresistible New York Times best-selling mystery series featuring canine narrator Chet and his human companion Bernie, "the coolest human/pooch duo this side of Wallace and Gromit" (Kirkus Reviews).

Combining suspense and intrigue with a wonderfully humorous take on the link between man and beast, Spencer Quinn's exceptional mystery series has captured widespread praise since its New York Times best-selling debut, Dog on It. The Dog Who Knew Too Much marks the duo's triumphant return in a tale that's full of surprises.

Bernie is invited to give the keynote speech at the Great Western Private Eye Convention, but it's Chet that the bigshot P.I. in charge has secret plans for. Meanwhile Chet and Bernie are hired to find a kid who has gone missing from a wilderness camp in the high country. The boy's mother thinks the boy's father - her ex - has snatched the boy, but Chet makes a find that sends the case in a new and dangerous direction. As if that weren't enough, matters get complicated at home when a stray puppy that looks suspiciously like Chet shows up. Affairs of the heart collide with a job that's never been tougher, requiring our two intrepid sleuths to depend on each other as never before. The Dog Who Knew Too Much is classic Spencer Quinn, offering page-turning entertainment that's not just for dog-lovers.

A little short of it's potential

Basically, it didn't work as an audiobook with this narrator. I could not distinguish between Chet"s (the dog) voice and Bernie's voice (the human). The story was just "ok", and the humor was sometimes there, with the dog behaviors and thoughts. Maybe I will try another if they go on sale.

Chet the Jet does it again.

Another fun listen in the series!
There's murder, child abduction, and an attempt to split up Chet and Bernie.
Narration is great: especially the distractibility of Chet.

Who's barking?

Another good story as told by Chet. I love this series and look forward to hearing more. I've never read one. I only listen to Chet.

Another Great Adventure with Chet and Bernie

Spencer Quinn is excellent in his narrating the story from Chet's point of view, and Jim Frangione is perfect as the narrator! The Dog Who Knew Too Much delivered all of the mystery and the antics of Chet that one would expect. My only criticism is this story had more foul language in it than was necessary. Other than that, well done, gentlemen! I look forward to listening to the next adventure!

Laughed out loud

Where does The Dog Who Knew Too Much rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book is in the top level.

What other book might you compare The Dog Who Knew Too Much to and why?

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time because it is written from the point of view of someone that does not think like most people.

Have you listened to any of Jim Frangione’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first book by this author for me.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I don't listen and sit; I listen all day whatever I am doing as much as possible. I did not want to stop listening unless necessary to do something else.

Any additional comments?

I liked the relationship between Chet and Bernie.

Chet the Dog Detective Entertains

This was a good mystery story, told from the perspective of Chet to dog. In addition to keeping our attention as we listened around the campfire, we enjoyed laughing at how typical a dog Chet really is - easily distracted and ready for a good time - as well as being totally loyal to his master and partner at the Little Detective Agency. We now want to read the first story by this author.

Delightful!

Enjoyed reading this! Characters well done. Story believable and well presented. Having the reader as the dog was hilarious and added to the charm of the story.

Must love dogs

Any additional comments?

This is a case where the reviews get better with each book in the series. Either you liked the premise of the dog as a narrator in which case, you moved onto the next book or you did not and passed on the subsequent books. Assuming you did these in sequence, by the time you got to book four you are left only with fans. I am waiting for book five. I delight in the relationship of Bernie and Chet as does the dog who is lying by my side on the couch.

Lots of laughs

This was a delightful book, with many smiles and laugh out loud moments, all due to the dog's perceptions and lack of them. There was enough of a plot to keep things moving along, but the charm is really seeing things from the dog's point of view. It's brilliant and charming, plus the narration makes it perfect. I'm sure I'll read more.
