This volume contains “The Blackmailer”, “A Scandal in Bohemia” (where listeners are introduced to the clever and beautiful adversary Irene Adler), “Silverblaze”, and “The Speckled Band”.

Shabby and lumbering, with a face like a Norfolk dumpling, Father Brown makes for an improbable super-sleuth. But his innocence is the secret of his success: refusing the scientific method of detection, he adopts instead an approach of simple sympathy, interpreting each crime as a work of art, and each criminal as a man no worse than himself… Here you will find the complete Father Brown stories in the chronological order of their original publication. London, 1889. Oscar Wilde, celebrated poet, wit, playwright, and raconteur is the literary sensation of his age. All Europe lies at his feet. Yet when he chances across the naked corpse of sixteen-year-old Billy Wood, posed by candlelight in a dark stifling attic room, he cannot ignore the brutal murder. With the help of fellow author Arthur Conan Doyle he sets out to solve the crime - but it is Wilde's unparalleled access to all degrees of late Victorian life, from society drawing rooms to the underclass, that will prove the decisive factor in their investigation....

This series, the Best of Sherlock Holmes (1-4), is one of the better and more entertaining versions of the stories I have listened to.
I have listened to quite a few different versions of Sherlock Holmes on Audible and this version is the one I have enjoyed the most.
All of the characters have been voiced well, no doubt there is some experienced talent there.

Another fine performance
I do immensely love Sherlock Holmes. I’ve read snd heard all I can get my hands on. This rendition with Sir John Gielgud is superb. He was such a talented actor and did a fine job indeed Ruth Mr. Holmes. The only thing I fight like was how long that pauses were along with the overlapping music. It still was a great job well done.
