Publisher's summary

From the acclaimed author of Sherlock Holmes and The Christmas Demon comes another beautifully presented seasonal mystery.

The year 1889. The First Terror.

At a boys’ prep school in the Kent marshes, a pupil is found drowned in a pond. Could this be the fulfilment of a witch’s curse from 400 years earlier?

The year 1890. The Second Terror.

A wealthy man dies of a heart attack at his London townhouse. Was he really frightened to death by ghosts?

The year 1894. The Third Terror.

A body is discovered at a Surrey country manor, hideously ravaged. Is the culprit a cannibal, as the evidence suggests?

These three linked crimes test Sherlock Holmes’ deductive powers, and his skepticism about the supernatural, to the limit.

Very like the original Sherlock

The plots are seamlessly interwoven with the original Holmes stories. The narrative style is convincing and i look forward to more tales in this vein

Not only do you get three great story but ends with an unexpected twist that ties it all together. Narration is fantastic, story is fantastic. Thank you James Lovegrove for continuing the amazing adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson.

Excellent seasonal mysteries

I’m always skeptical of Sherlock Holmes pastiches, as it’s difficult to capture the spirit of the originals. This book, which is three interconnected short stories, does quite a good job capturing the tone and characters of Conan Doyle’s originals. The stories themselves are clever and are “fair play” mysteries. The narrator is good. I definitely recommend it for a Christmastime listen.

good, could be better

the stories are good. one might quibble with the last tale, but it is well done. the narrator is clear and understandable, but the delivery lacks emotion. its a bit like having someone read the statements of a witness. but if one can get past that, it's worth getting this audiobook.

Sad it ended

I've enjoyed all of Lovegrove's Sherlock Holmes stories and Kleinman does a great job narrating them.

Good show

Just a reiteration that Sherlock Holmes is by far the greatest fictional character ever and of course we can't forget Watson, who seems to be just as crucial really good stuff though

Well done

A well conceived story. Good narration. I like the allusion to other well known Holmes cases in the book. I recommend.
