    "A solid start."
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. This is such an enjoyable read and a great introduction to the Ivy Granger series.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot was sufficiently fast paced to keep me hooked and it really picked up the pace towards the end.

What about Traci Odom’s performance did you like?

Yes. She is such an awesome Ivy and knows how to grab the readers.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Ivy is so snarky that it's impossible not to snicker during the book, so yes, I had a good few laugh out loud moments.

    Any additional comments?

Shadow sight introduces us to the snarky and kick ass heroine Ivy Granger. When she touches an object she can "read" that object. She doesn't know why or how she has the gift but she learns to deal with it. She opens her own Detective Agency and has the name to investigate the weird.
Ivy is such an awesome character and I loved her wit and sass. I can't wait to read more in this awesome world and look forward to the next book.

"A light fey read to relax with"
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes. Where I felt the story was slower moving as we are being introduced to a new world, the audio didn't stop so I kept moving forward with the story rather than stopping.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Things picked up and we learned a few things about Ivy. All the characters fall into a place with Ivy.

What three words best describe Traci Odom’s voice?

    Young, solid sounding,

    Any additional comments?

This is a vast world created. There are creatures from Brownies, Demons, Trolls, and Witches (or hunters) to much more. Vampires, Kelpie, Selkie, and rare fey of the ocean and land.

    "Worked hard to like it"

I feel like I'm being read a story by a well intentioned volunteer at the children's section of the library. I'm always on board for a psychic detective and really wanted to like this one but I'm not sure I'm going to make it to the end. Outside of some verbiage this story seems to be more appropriate for middle schoolers.

    "Second Sight!"

I rather enjoyed the story that author E. J. Stevens has written but I did have a few problems with this story. I felt it was somewhat like Kim Harrison's Dead Witch Walking. The names of the character, Ivy's best friend and the main characters job, demons, the name of the smell. Its just a bit like listening to Kim's story. Other than that, I felt it was a great story just names and details were too much like another great series I love. It held my imagination engaged and I enjoyed the quirky things throughout this story. I don't think in anyway that the author has done anything wrong with having the same names and some details. Once you listen/read this story it takes on its on perfect story.

I've never heard of this narrator before but Traci Odam did a great job with her narration of this story. She kept me on the edge of my seat and fully engaged from start to finish. I received this audio free from the author/narrator in exchange for an honest and unbiased review through Audiobook Blast.

    "Shadow Sight Review"

I liked GHOST LIGHT much better. I'm glad I listened out of order. For me, as I'm familiar with the characters, I had a hard time paying attention due to the narration style. I even went as far as listen to a few samples of Traci Odom's other work and not sure what happened here. I feel the over dramatization wasn't necessary and was distracting. So it comes down to preference. If this is a favorite genre then I'd recommend.

Audiobook received in exchange for honest review.

"A great start to what looks like a great UF series"

As much as I love the UF genre, I got into it for the mysteries with supernatural elements but I've felt like a lot of them devolve into sex-fests. Not that there's anything wrong with romantic and intimate relationships, I just really hate when those become the core of an UF series. I was so thrilled to get a listen to SHADOW SIGHT and find that wasn't at all an issue.

It's not often you get to enjoy a story where water fae are used and I've always loved kelpies so the plot was fantastic. Ivy and Jinx are a quirky team and I really enjoyed the secondary characters, especially Marvin. (I also have a soft spot for trolls). It reminded me of early Anita Blake or Allie Beckstrom. If you've been looking for an enjoyable urban fantasy I would definitely recommend checking it out.

I quite enjoyed Traci Odom's narration, I thought she suited Ivy very well. I will definitely be picking up the next book in the series soon.

    Story
"Great start to a new series."

This is the first book that I’ve read or listened to by this author. I’ve seen several reviews that really peaked my interest, but never got around to picking them up. Then I hear that they were available on audio, which I can get through much faster than reading, as I can listen while working, so this worked perfectly for me. I’m so glad I was finally able to get to this series. Shadow Sight was a great start to the series.

Ivy Granger is a psychic detective. She also has some special powers. She can see things when she touches things. Some people might call this a gift. Ivy calls it a curse. She tends to see horrible things that happen to people who’ve touched an object. It makes things really hard for her. She doesn’t like to go out where she might touch someone else. She always wears long gloves to prevent skin contact. She also has the ability to see through glamour.

Ivy is surrounded by some pretty great friends. Jinx is Ivy’s roommate and business partner. She has the nickname because she is a clutz. She has bad luck wherever she goes. She is more of the people person and organizer of the business. Kaye is an elderly witch who helps to mentor Ivy. Ivy goes to her with supernatural questions and advice. There is also Hob, Kaye’s kitchen brownie and Marvin, a young troll who has a hard time in the story, but has a really big heart.

Ivy is hired by a demon to help find the kelpie king’s bridle. A kelpie’s bridle holds all their control. Steal a kelpie’s bridle and you have complete control over them. She works with a priest to help with the demon. She does a ton of leg work on the case while the priest and Jinx workout the contract, because demon contracts are from Hell.

I enjoyed the story. I thought the worldbuilding was phenomenal. There are several different kinds of fae. Some of which I was familiar with from other stories, others were new to me. I felt that they author gave enough information about each kind that I was never lost, even if I wasn’t aware of the mythology behind them. Some had very small parts in this story, I hope that I’ll be able to see more of them in future books. All in all, the book was a great read. There is a very light romance that might build going into future books, but not really anything to speak of in this one. There is enough action to keep you from being bored at any time.

    Narration
This was the second time I listened to Traci Odom (first was Pride Mates by Jennifer Ashley). I really enjoyed her narration of this book. I thought she did a great job with the vast array of characters. I really felt like she handle the many different types of creature voices really well. I always felt like I knew which character was talking. I liked her tone and pace. I listened to this at normal speed, but that is my preference in general.

"I am probably not the target audience"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I gave up on this. After multiple chapters nothing happened. The author spent time developing interesting characters but nothing on plot. Sime people might ind this charming but After the first 5 chapters I stopped as there was just no reason to continue. There is no drama, no threat, nothing.

Would you ever listen to anything by E. J. Stevens again?

I would probably not listen to this author again.

Would you be willing to try another one of Traci Odom’s performances?

Goodness no. Traci Odon made all the secondary female characters sound like they were either bimbos or ten years old.
