Never underestimate the power of a woman on a double espresso with a mocha latte chaser high. (T-shirt)
Charley Davidson isn’t your everyday, run-of-the-mill grim reaper. She’s more of a paranormal private eye/grim reaper extraordinaire. However, she gets sidetracked when the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, moves in next door. To further complicate matters, Reyes is her main suspect in an arson case. Charley has vowed to stay away from him until she can find out the truth... but then dead women start appearing in her apartment, one after another, each lost, confused, and terrified beyond reason.
When it becomes apparent that her own sister, Gemma, is the serial killer’s next target Charley has no choice but to ask for Reyes’ help. Arsonist or not, he’s the one man alive who could protect Gemma no matter who or what came at her. But he wants something in return. Charley. All of her, body and soul. And to keep her sister safe, it is a price she is willing to pay.
Charley Davidson is at it again in Fifth Grave Past the Light, the sexy, suspenseful, and laugh-out-loud funny fifth installment of the New York Times best-selling series by Darynda Jones.

The story concept for this series is great... and I have stuck with it hoping the writer would grow up and drop the juvenile sarcasm... it gets very old and takes from the flow and quality of the book. The need to sound hip and in the moment is annoying too. Just write a good book... it's in there.. I'm just getting tired of weeding it out.
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! I can't wait for the next installment!
The progression in the romance between Charlie and Reyes. And finally some answers
Everything. I can't imagine this series being narrated by someone else. She does such a fantastic job of drawing you into the story and bringing the characters to life.
It made me laugh and brought tears to my eyes at points.
I would recommend this series to anyone looking for a great read (or listen)
"These are fists of fury. They will get close. You'll feel the air as they swoosh by you. You'll stand in awe of their speed and accuracy, but if you move, you lose. You still up for this? Speak now or forever hold your peace."
-Charlie Davidson, Fifth Grave Past the Light
The fifth installment in this sensational series, Darynda works her magic to create the caffeine-filled and ADD-riddled life of Charlie Davidson. The series takes place where the fourth book leaves off and readers can expect the signature Charlie Davidson's world-wind of what-the-heck-have-you-gotten-yourself-into situations, humorous dialogues, and- be still my heart- Reyes Alexander Farrow.
Fans of this series will absolutely adore this book with Charlie being Charlie, the drool-worthy Reyes being even more alluring and irresistible (is that even possible?), and the rock solid supporting cast all gather to make this book a huge hit. Not to mention the fact that we get more insight as to Charlie and Reyes' role in the grand scheme of things and a sweet (and freaking HOT) progression in their relationship. My only regret in reading this book is that I devoured it too quickly. Like Paula Dean with a pound of butter, I was over zealous and lacked self-control. I think I see a run of the entire series back-to-back in the near future.
Note: the beginning quote was taken from a scene that had me laughing so hard I cried and nearly pissed my pants. Don't you just love stories that have that kind of power?
Narrator: Lorelei King
As always, King nails it! Depicting Charlie's voice spot on, delivering her witty humor with perfect inflection and timing. King also does a fantastic job with the other characters, changing her voice enough to add distinction to the various characters while keeping it consistent for the recurring cast members throughout the series. I love that King has narrated all of the series thus far. Please don't ever change it!
I've loved each and every page in every book in this series. They always leave me wanting more and sad that it's over. Amazing adventures!!!
funny and the whole line of the story keeps your interest . I was always wondering how she gets in to such jams and is ray really gonna follow thru . I guess I have to listen to six
As usual Darynda's book narrated by 's Ms King is outstanding. From 1st chapter to last there is always a bit of mystery, homicide, sex & love mixed with a lot of supernatural topped with just enough comedy to keep me glued to the pages of each book in this series so far. Thanks for another great hit you guys. 🐣🎉
My name is Irene and I'm a lifelong bookaholic. A few years ago, I started adding audiobooks and I'm so happy I joined Audible in 2015 :-))
I'm kinda disappointed that Charlie isn't learning her mad skills just a little teensy bit faster... Not giving any spoilers, but the ending kinda surprised me. I doubt that the next installment in this series will see it through... I'm sure it will be interesting. Lorelei rocks as Charlie
Reyes does everything for Charlie. Saved her life over and over and never appreciates anything. Charlie is childish, doesnt care about everyone as others say, and stubborn to the point of stupid & endangers herself and others. And I am so tired of the way she treats Reyes. She will believes anything others say about him, strangers and mistrust anything he says. He loves her and sacrifices for her and mistreats him. Hurts him. I am sick of reading that. Even in the latest books she mistrust him. Says in 10 "will he betray her and stand with the other gods" which is bullshit. Completes disrespect and appreciation for all he has done and suffered for her. She is the one doing stipid things, risking her life and others, and so childish its reduculous. So Charlies is not by far the best character.
