Publisher's summary

When my old friend Jim Walker asks me to fly up to Canada and take a look at a strange murder case, it sounds like a good excuse for barbecue and brewskis.

But the party gets crashed by a pit-load of demons and things take a turn for the worse. Throw a faerie queen and a couple of ancient vampires into the mix and you've got a recipe for disaster.

Time to sharpen the stakes and start slaying the undead.

Because if you gaze long into a vampire's eyes, the vampire gazes also into you.

Excellent series!

Great characters and interesting twists and turns. I anxious to read the next book as soon as it comes out. Vaguely reminiscent of Harry Dresden, but not a knock off. The narrator is great, too.

Always leaves you hanging!

I've really enjoyed this series, and can't wait til the next one but man, does the author love to mess with readers with these continuing plot threads! Engaging characters and fast paced, fun build up of tension, all make me anticipate more!

Can't wait fo4 the Next Audiobook

Although the Audiobooks in this series are short, the characters, story, and narration are so good they are worth the credit or price you pay. I highly recommend this audiobook and series.

Just Enough Detail

Any additional comments?

I'm so used to lengthy descriptions about every little thing and this book was refreshing in that you didn't get all of that. It told a story without describing every little detail of everything they saw. I will say the other characters need to be fleshed out a little more along with their interactions with the main character. Other than that, I enjoyed this book and the series.

Good Read

I struggled with some parts, but mostly because i see the queens of fairy a little differently.

Over all it was a good read, and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Bring me More!!!

This continues to be one of my favorites Supernatural / Paranormal novels. This story is more of Alec being a man of his word. We see what he will do to keep it and emotionally, what it takes from him if he fails. When this series started, Alec was a reluctant PI is the small city of Dearmont Main. What the Society of Shadows decided was his inability to follow orders, and he decided was a matter of doing the right thing, got him demoted to Main and placed with a baby sitter, Felicity.

Alec’s character continues to grow, and this book adds more dimension to him. His relationship with Felicity has the potential to become romantic, and they both are doing thinking about that. While he is still ambivalent about the society and his father, he is still willing to work for the greater good. Upon learning valuable information, he does not hesitate to tell his father. Again the Society keeps him on the peripheral and does not share what happen to his father.

Alec still is torn over what his father did to him as a child and what he as a child, was unable to do for his mother. These issues are the at the core of Alec. They keep him fighting and from leaving the past behind. My mother says, every good-bye ain’t gone and every shut eye ain’t sleep.

I am so glad Mr. Wright, the author, has added dimension to Mr. Scary. For nothing else, read this for the Mr. Scary insight. I thought Mr. Scary was just background information for Mallory. From this installment, it seems that story line will be included in the series with active participation by Alec.

Leon has turned out to be a pretty good fighter. Hey, when you are rich and bored, what can you do for a hobby. Kill monsters sounds good. But you are not happy when there is not phone reception. There are more realms than fairy and man. Alec and Leon has an opportunity to explore another realm.

The sister witches make an appearance and at no cost to Alec. Being a guinea pig does have its advantages.

There is fighting, gore and suspense of the count down to doom. Those are things that we expect from a Harbinger P.I and this does not disappoint. I have read many paranormal novels, and it is always great to see when a villain gets his comeuppance and when an ass hold unbeliever becomes a believer. Yep, that happens here.

Goosebumps!

Although I have enjoyed the series so far, this book really brought me closer to the characters. As usual it made me laugh and at some points made me a little sad. It was great seeing the friendships bonded between characters learning to depend on others to have each other's backs. The last chapter left me a little sad, but with a great case of goosebumps!! Can't wait to listen to the next book!
