Publisher's summary

Erin Neal has been living in seclusion since his girlfriend's death, and he isn't happy when an oil company executive comes calling. Some important Saudi oil wells have stopped producing, and Erin is the world's foremost expert in resolving these matters. But he has left that world behind. Homeland Security, however, sees things differently.

Erin quickly finds himself stuck in the Saudi desert, studying a new bacteria with a voracious appetite for oil and an uncanny talent for destroying drilling equipment. But worst of all is its ability to spread. It soon becomes clear that if this contagion isn't stopped, it will infiltrate the world's petroleum reserves, cutting off the energy that provides the heat, food, and transportation necessary for survival. As the threat becomes more real, Erin realizes that there's something eerily familiar about this bacteria. And that it couldn't possibly have evolved on its own.

Some weak story lines but enjoyed it

When they did not immediately call the FBI I felt it was a weak story line.

Darkness Falls

Good characters, nice plot, sometimes not believable but I really enjoyed it none the less.

Good read

Narrator sounded a bit like David Spade. Good listen. Great story line. 10 of 10 would suggest.

Thought provoking

This was a great story that raised some very interesting facts about the world’s dependence on petroleum. Does not preach, though. Just makes you think.

Expected More

I expected more from the author that took over for Vince Flynn after he passed away.
In spite of the environmental wacos and a few more lefty plugs than I would like I did enjoy the destruction of the extremist environmental narrative. At times Mills can show the silliness of some of the extreme arguments
The performance was excellent and overall the story was quite good.

Tedious

Almost quit but got about 1/3 into it and jumped to the last couple chapters. The chapters are bundled into groups of 3 so when you initially look at chapter numbers you might scratch your head thinking they are going to be hours long each. Overall, I am not impressed with this book.

Gritty, dark, and compelling

A heady thriller that chews up the protagonists and their world before giving a happy ending to a tough situation.

Good easy story.

I thought it was a good store that was well written. I seen a few people upset about the profanity in the book. If that’s your biggest complaint then maybe you should grow up a little bit and remember that there are people in this world that use profanity, some more than others and if it bothers you that bad then MoveOn.
