Highly enjoyable

I loved reading the series, and hearing them as an audiobook really brought the story and characters to life.
Listening to the story reminded me of how much I'd forgotten.
Nebiat was an excellent villain with tremendous depth and (some) noble motives willing to do anything to reach her goals. I haven't enjoyed a villain this much since Handsome Jack in Borderland 2.
Want to add I had only read the first eight (Godswar) and Legacy being on as well was a huge bonus. I've got the Legacy books just haven't gotten around to reading them yet.
Also, loved Ryan Burke's performance in the Deathless books and he's done an excellent job here as well.

Good as always

Been listening to the series for awhile and have always enjoyed the mixture of sci-fi and magic. The author does a good job designing an unique world and magic system that allows for characters to rapid develop and change, sometimes comically. The individual books are a little on the short side, but I really appreciate how the author is always willing to bundle them if your willing to be patient. I look forward to the next book in the series.

don't know if it gets better.

ever read a book where the characters feel like puppets on a string and make decisions based on what is most dramatic for that moment? Or a book that has fight scenes with multiple combatants where everyone is frozen except the one character that is performing actions for like 30 seconds? If so, then this book is for you.

Worth the Creditl

For how many hours there are, it's a worthwhile purchase. The narration is solid but the characters are copies of the original ones personalities. All the guys are gamer dorks who have image issues and try to fold their arms in imitation of someone actually intimidating. You'll also probably have to delete and download the book a few times when it fails to play, but it's not slow to start up again. I'd say it's still worth getting.

Outstanding

I previously listed to Relic Hunter series. This is a prequel and up to book 6 of relic hunter. I really enjoyed the 80 hours of listening time. The Relic hunter was my favorite part of the series. I loved the parts that they explored the old fleet ships.

Good performance, characters a bit one dimensional

Nobody likes Frit but the author. It felt like the author wanted to force the readers to cheer on a this character and feel conflicting emotions about their choices. The way other characters react to this character's choices and actions show that the author really wanted us to feel sympathetic to her plight. I found that to be painfully frustrating and had to stop listening to the book for a few days each time. Frit does nothing but mope around and be a jerk everyone around her yet somehow we are supposed to cheer for her?
