Publisher's summary

Get this 32-hour box set of pure kickass military sci-fi - a thrill ride combining space opera and first contact!

Terminal Lance Lucky Lee Savage likes his life. Sure, doing PT hungover is a pain, but no one can dodge responsibility like he can - or sweet-talk the cooks into giving out double rations.

But when Lucky’s ambushed behind enemy lines and left for dead, along with a handful of privates so boot they actually respect his authority, he has to step up, manage the ambitions of his foul-mouthed AI, and figure out what’s tearing a hole in the fabric of space-time before everything goes haywire.

Lucky wouldn’t bet on the universe. One thing he will bet on: Somewhere, somehow, somebody is going to pay for all this. And he is going to be right there to pull the trigger.

If you like Aliens and Firefly, you'll love this funny, gritty, and endlessly entertaining series!

Great fun book

This was a very fun book with a lot of different twists that I haven’t heard of in other books it was refreshing for somebody to step outside of the normal side by box and be creative.

Fun

My biggest issue with this story was trying to understand the armor these characters wear. Like sometimes it comes accoss like Spartan armor from Halo, then sometimes its like a vac suit with a chest plate. And how does the armor deal with the masive amout of damage these charcters take? Is the armor also regenerative and i just missed that explanation?
Other than all that I had fun with this story.

AI much?

I really liked Lucky's AI, Rocky. Her subsequent versions not so much. I liked the interaction between Rocky and L ucky. Th a t's where the where the satirical wit is.

Repeat

The stories have a lot of repeating scenes. They seem to be only fillers to pad the narrative and therefore extend the story length.

Great Continuous Action Military Sci-Fi

This was my first experience with Joshua James' work, and it was great. This box set was composed of the first five books of the series, plus the novella titled, "Lucky Shot". All the stories flowed from one action scene to the next, pretty much without stopping. I enjoyed the worldbuilding, including the augmented bodies with nanobots and attached AI. I liked that there were several non-human races featured. I liked Lucky and his team. Lucky was the quintessential flawed military hero who forged his own path. He was courageous, outrageous, and sarcastic, plus he always looked out for his team members. I'm looking forward to the next story. Mark Boyett's narration was excellent, and his performance added to the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of this audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.
