Publisher's summary

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Helena Hunting comes an evocative small-town romance about family loyalty, finding oneself, and falling in love.

When Dillion Stitch left her hometown, she had no intention of going back. But when her brother gets into trouble, Dillion reluctantly agrees to return home to take her place at the family business.

Being back in Pearl Lake after all these years feels familiar but also brings a few surprises. She’s quick to notice that someone new has shown up at the cottage next door. Dillion gets more than an eyeful when she goes to check out the newcomer and meets Donovan “Van” Firestone - her beloved neighbor’s grandson - in all his unclothed glory.

Having gotten off to a rocky start, it’s not long before they begin bickering with each other all over town. All that back-and-forth inevitably sparks an undeniable attraction. But Dillion’s family has issues, Van’s family resents him, and neither Dillion nor Van feels truly at ease in the small town. For these Pearl Lake exiles, home isn’t just where the heart is - it’s where things get complicated.

A nice reprieve from reality.

The only complaint I have is that having both main characters with their own voices, why not use them every time they talk? I found it especially annoying when they did each other’s voices. They were great when doing their own character’s voice. But having more than one narrator made me want a new appropriate, distinguishable voice for each character. Otherwise I enjoyed the story and the personality the narrators had for their respective characters.

Another gem👌🏽

This was a delightful "enemies turn lovers" romance set in a small Lake side town. There was a perfect balance of bickering, banter, intrigue and sexual tension.

Donovan's nickname for Tucker was the best thing ever. I grinned ever time voice actor Teddy Hamilton said Tucker the "d"fucker.😁

Teddy Hamilton is also one of my top favorite male voice actors, so it was pleasure listening to his performance here.

Final thoughts: if you're new to Helena Hunting's work, definitely check out one of her stand alone novels entitled, "The Good Luck Charm." If you like angsty novels, then most definitely read her Clipped Wings series. Her Pucked series is perfect for fans of out there humor and hockey romances. There are "Easter Eggs" in Love Next Door that refer to characters from her Pucked series which makes it fun for those who have already read that hockey romance series. She really has something to offer in most of the popular romance tropes.

Summer Love Turned More

This was a brilliant small town romance. It truly had all the elements I love.... strong heroine, some snark with a bit of sarcasm, real world problems, envy, family and lots of love. Romance at its BEST.

Sweet beach read

That simple. Helena Hunting has become an auto download for me. The variety of her stories are great. The Pucked, All In, and Shacked Up series have insane humor and some emotional rollercoasters. The second generation of the hockey stories under H Hunting seem to be much heavier on the drama emotional side. This book was the perfect beach read. Hoping Teegan’s story is just as good.

Loved the cameo mention of the Bowman’s (Kodiak’ parents) with the tie into the hockey world she created.

I hate writing headlines

I love Andi Arndt. I've never been disappointed in any book she's done. she gets 5 stars. teddy Hamilton wasn't bad, he sounded a little aggressive sometimes when it didn't feel needed in the story, but he does a pretty good job with the female voices. I enjoyed the book itself. I've only listened to the Lie for a Lie series from her, and it was nice to see some familiar names dropped

small town love

Helena Hunting has quickly become an author who makes beautiful stories that I truly enjoy. Andi Arndt and Teddy Hamilton always do exceptional jobs at bringing stories to life, and they surely did it again with this one. If you’re needing a sweet story full of chemistry, the intricacies of how small towns rally together, and family bonds … then this story is for you.

Such a good book

This had a few twists but was a sweet and slow-burn romance. I really liked it.

More than meets the eye

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. What started as a—seemingly typical—small town, enemies to lovers book turned into so much more.

Van and Dillion were so much fun. From their initial banter, to their loving interactions, I was their biggest cheerleader. Even when things were hard, I had no doubt they would pull through. Especially with Quirky Grammy Bee looking over them.

Billy. I loved him.
Despite his challenging behaviour, his attitude and recklessness, I loved him. I knew there was more going on with him than what we were initially gifted with. I wasn't far of base with my suspicions either.

I hope we get more of this world. I really enjoyed the secondary characters. Teagan, Tawny, Aaron and Allie are all on my shortlist for their own HEA's.

Andi and Teddy did a fab job of narrating this story.
