Publisher's summary

I have a nice life—living in my hometown and owning the coffee shop I’ve worked at since I was 16.

It’s comfortable on paper, but I’m tired of doing everything by myself. Tired of being in charge of every decision in my life. I want someone to lean on, someone to spend time with, sit with, hug. And I really don’t want to go to my best friend’s wedding alone.

So, I signed up for a dating app and agreed to meet with the first guy that messaged me. Now here I am, at the bar. Only it’s not my date that just sat down in the chair across from me. It’s his dad.

Holy hell, he’s the definition of Silver Fox. If a Silver Fox can be thick as a house, have piercing blue eyes, and tattoos from his neck down to his fingertips.

He’s giving me Big Bad Wolf vibes. Only instead of running, I’m blushing. He looks like he might just want to eat me whole.

Fun and steamy

I started the series with Smoky Darling and it was my first time reading SJ Tilly. I enjoyed the storyline and the twists. I had heard all the hype around this book and wasn’t sure what to expect after reading book 1. Where I didn’t find it to be quite intensity that reviews had made it to be I did really enjoy it. The story flows nicely and I think the subject matter is not only relevant but is a welcome perspective for bigger girls. Throw in an age gap and it really does have a different feel than other age gap stories. This one was definitely spicier than book 1 which I am totally ok with but both books in the series have that Alpha male protector MINE mentality and I am also 100% here for it so that didn’t bother me at all and in fact I welcomed it. I find with Alpha mentality books there is far less of the miscommunication trope which I am happy for bc I find that particular trope ruins the story. Obviously there needs to be drama but what I really appreciate with these books is that there is that “black moment” but it’s quickly resolved but still provides an uh oh what will happen. The narrators were new for me and I thought they did a great job. I really enjoyed Gomez’s deep gruff voice and his ability to alter his voice for different characters. I took me a minute to realize the tone he was using for Axel, a bit monotone and slower and deeper, was on purpose to reflect an older man bc his Brian voice was far more up beat. Callie did a great job too in changing up the tones of her voice for the other characters. I’ll definitely continue reading SJ Tilly snd listen to lord Gomez and Callie.

So good

I loved this one more than the first book and I really liked that one! Everything about it was perfect. It wasn’t a creepy age gap either.

wish it was a duet narration

I liked the story lines in the sleet series better than this one but it was still a good read. Callie is not one of my favorites but she is a good narrator. She just can't do Axel's voice justice though. A duet narration would have been better IMO. This was my first age gap romance and the gap was a bit too large for my comfort but if that's your thing you will like it. I did like this book better than the first one in the series. The alpha male behavior is a bit too overbearing and controlling but the MMC acknowledged that fact throughout the book.

Loved this story

perfect balance of sexy and romantic. The two narrators spoke at very different speeds though so I had to keep changing the speaking tempo.

loved

I absolutely love this book. It is so amazing and so uplifting. I am definitely going to Listen to this one again. The sex scenes are hot and that narrator's voice good god. Both narratries did a great job and the author Really brought there a game on this one I would definitely recommend

Silver Foxes >

I really enjoyed Maddie and Axel’s story. Age gap is a great trope, and this was super well written. The only ick I had was the miscommunication at the end, and it super duper showed Maddie’s age. I wasn’t a fan of that. Honestly, I’m really excited for the next installment in this series!

Gomez Pugh has SUCHHHH a great growl to his voice, and he was the PERFECT Axel. Callie Dalton is a comfort narrator for me, so she’s always perfect in my mind. Overall, the audio was so good.
