I liked it

What can I say about this book ? It was good, I liked it . I’ve noticed a lot of reviews stating it was “ for kids“ or “ predictable “… Well, it is in fact a childrens audiobook as it clearly states , so it’s funny to me when I see reviews like that ! It is a book for younger people however, I’m an adult and I enjoyed it . It was creative, funny and chalked full of magic . I didn’t give it 5 stars because I didn’t like the music in between chapters and there was even a couple of times it started mid-chapter when people were talking. I will be reading the next one …

Great book

It is a good book and well read. The only thing I really can't stand is the music that comes between some of the chapters.

Won't bore you children OR you!!

Got a car ride coming up with kids ages 8-18? This book is the key to your sanity. Won't drive you crazy, will keep them entertained, and help the time fly by. The reading (unlike some other kids books here) is great.

Cute!

A cute and sweet story. It is aimed at a younger crowd then some of the other "magic" books out there, but if you like children's books this is a good one. It's filled with little imaginative details that make the story. The narration is well done. The music between sections is rather annoying but might appeal to children. I recommend the book and I'll be downloading the second one in the series.

Most enjoyable

I found the author's ability to tell a tightly plotted and logical story in a fantasy milieu with well-drawn characters to be impressive. Sage is deserving of more popular attention than she has.

Fun, Silly, and Interesting

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Magyk was a great book! It was a light hearted read that I extremely enjoyed. Some parts of it were extremely funny and I found myself laughing often (especially at the expense of the main villain and that pesky hat of his.)

Any additional comments?

The storyline of this book is extremely easy to follow. There isn't any epic battles or stressful situations that leave you on the edge of your seat. Instead it's fun, whimsical, and interesting. The characters are all developed well without going over board leaving plenty of time to get to know them all without feeling overwhelmed. I loved their personalities, the imagery the author creates, and the overall feeling of the book.

Loved this book

My kids and I loved this book. I have to admit that we picked it because of the narrator (loved him from the Keys to the Kingdom series by Garth Nix), but even another narrator would be wonderful in this book. We're on the second book in the series now and have determined that this is an author who leaves no loose ends. Be on the lookout for any character mentioned in even the smallest of ways. My kids (13 & 9) love watching out for that and guessing who is coming into the story next. It's really a great book - wonderful fun.

Great fun!

I just loved this story. Lively, imaginative characters in a magical land with a timeless message about the importance of family. I stayed up way past my bedtime to hear the last few hours of the story, I was so engrossed by it. Looking forward to the next one. Great fun!

Thank God for good YA fantasy!

I've returned one book after another trying to find a new series to enjoy. Found it! This is the best book I've read in nearly a month. The characters are well developed, the author has a good grasp on writing an enjoyable story, and when the characters make stupid choices it's ok....their children! I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
