Publisher's summary

Rick Riordan, the best-selling author of the Percy Jackson series, pumps up the action and suspense in The Lost Hero, the first book in The Heroes of Olympus series.

"Riordan extends the franchise in a logical direction while maximizing the elements that made the first series so popular: irreverent heroes, plenty of tension-filled moments fighting monsters, and authentic classical mythology mixed in with modern life."—Horn Book

A New York Times best-seller

A spin-off of the blockbuster Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, but stands on its own

Combines Roman and Greek mythology

Told from the points of view of a diverse cast of demigods

Memorable characters, witty dialogue, and non-stop action have made this series popular across the globe

Perfect for middle grade listeners but can be enjoyed by older listeners, too

Jason has a problem. He doesn't remember anything before waking up on a school bus holding hands with a girl. Apparently she's his girlfriend Piper, his best friend is a kid named Leo, and they're all students in the Wilderness School, a boarding school for "bad kids." What he did to end up here, Jason has no idea—except that everything seems very wrong.

Piper has a secret. Her father has been missing for three days, and her vivid nightmares reveal that he's in terrible danger. Now her boyfriend doesn't recognize her, and when a freak storm and strange creatures attack during a school field trip, she, Jason, and Leo are whisked away to someplace called Camp Half-Blood. What is going on?

Leo has a way with tools. His new cabin at Camp Half-Blood is filled with them. Seriously, the place beats Wilderness School hands down, with its weapons training, monsters, and fine-looking girls. What's troubling is the curse everyone keeps talking about, and that a camper's gone missing. Weirdest of all, his bunkmates insist they are all—including Leo—related to a god.

Fans of demigods, prophecies, and quests will be left breathless—and panting for Book Two.

Great start to a series!

I really enjoyed the story and am excited to read on. However the narrators are frustratingly bad. (Contradicting each others pronunciations, saying wrong words as if they’re tongue tied, skipping words, repeating words, forgetting who’s talking so they do the wrong voice, etc.)

Female voice actress horrible

The book was great loved the pace and it was very clear to understand, but the female voice actress was horrible. I had to stop listening for a while she throw the hole book off.

New narrators please!

Love Rick Riordan books, but these narrators were almost impossible to listen to - mispronounced words, awkward timing, random accents for characters. It was a disservice to great writing.

Missing a Chapter and the Intro

I've waited a pretty long time for The Lost Hero to be added to audible, and i bought it the moment i noticed it had been added. the casting is great, especially Jason's narrator. he fits jason's personality very well and is nice to listen to.

however, its pretty apparent the production could use some work. the intro to the book is missing, as well as all of chapter 48, and the chapters are mis-numbered in the chapter directory.

Overall, i enjoyed listening to one of my favorite childhood stories, but i feel the need to point out the somewhat obvious flaws, especially considering how well the other Heroes of Olympus books are produced.

Poor execution

Whoever directed these voice actors must’ve been infuriating. Mispronounced words, lifeless reading, disjointed narration. Tried to get back into Rick Riordan and this is just such a poorly done audiobook that I couldn’t finish it. Wish I could return it.

Has some issues

Pronunciations are all over the place with all 3 narrators, and chapter 48 of the book itself is missing from the Audible version. Love the story, but this is not a great way to get it.

"Ruff"

Good story telling, only thing I noticed a little too hard was Roof was pronounced Ruff every time it came up which was surprisingly so many times

narrators killed me

Love Percy Jackson series and the spinoff series, although this is my least favorite of them. To be honest, I can usually get past narrators after a while but I feel like I tuned out more and more they went on. Towards the end I barely listened but somehow still heard so many mispronunciations I was cringing constantly. I don’t expect every complicated greek name to be said perfectly but the way they said Gaia made me write this review. Overall Jasons voice wasn’t too bad, but I truly hated Piper and Leo. Better luck next book?
