Great beginning to a wonderful series

This book (and the whole series) has everything you want in youth fantasy: mythical creatures, kid heroes, villains, adventure, friendships, laughter. The narrator is perfect. So wonderful to have a fantasy series for kids without profanity or anything inappropriate. Of course, I’m an adult, and I love these stories!

Great story

The reading was alittle fast paced but the story was well written and the characters were well played. Great book for cross country road trips.

Awesome Magical Medieval Adventure

I really liked this audio book. It's perfect to listen to in the car with kids- or just by yourself! (Like I did!) It's probably one of the best 'kid friendly' books I've listened to in quite awhile. While I liked Jake, I loved Dani. She was such a great, driving element in the story line.

The narrator did a wonderful job- I love his ability to go from 'villain' to 'cocky village street kid' to ' noble matriarch' to 'hyperactive young genius.'

I noticed some reviews made comparisons to Harry Potter. This book doesn't rely much on the same elements. The only real commonalities were that they both take place in England and our hero is a young man who can perform magic. Don’t compare them.

I was provided this audio book at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

An enjoyable time passer

I enjoyed listening to this book. They built some enjoyable characters and a fun setting. There were a couple of times I think it took the Lord's name in vain which I didn't appreciate in a young adult book but I might have misheard. Besides that I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to the next one.

Delightful!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Lost Heir to be better than the print version?

Not really, but I rarely can sit down to read and this narrator was phenomenal!

What does Jamie du Pont MacKenzie bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The accent!

Any additional comments?

Wonderful story that was enjoyable from start to finish. I recommend the entire series, which will hopefully include some more volumes!

What an Imaginative Adventure!

Narration - Jamie du Pont MacKenzie - Really Good!
Jamie has a lot of character voices (one of them sounds just like Hagrid from the Harry Potter Movies - it made me smile:)
Lots of characters and he does a great job of differentiating between them all.

The story is terrific! Jake is an orphaned street urchin in London who suddenly gains a weird little 'ability' to make objects move, oh, and he can see ghosts. He has an adorable side-kick Danni, who spends most of her time trying to keep Jake out of trouble with little success!

This is an adventure with lots of creatures, a talking spider, a sea hag, fairies, mermaids, a Griffon, a Cherub, you get the idea. It's light and fun with a lot of action and the audio is a really enjoyable listen. I will say that it did get a little Scooby Doo for the last hour and a half or so. We get a lot of the evil details just told to us in the narrative, and there are a lot of details, but I really do think this will be a fun series to continue on with.
