As a child, Petr Jasek watched Soviet tanks roll through the streets of his village in Czechoslovakia, taking the country by force and subjecting it to decades of Communist oppression. Petr grew up in the underground church and benefited from financial help and Bibles smuggled in to his family.

As an adult living in the free Czech Republic, Petr chose to begin serving persecuted Christians - especially in Islamist hotspots in Africa and the Middle East. In 2015, he was arrested in Sudan, convicted as a war criminal, and sentenced to life in prison, where he was forced to share a group cell with ISIS terrorists.

The importance of praying for our persecuted brothers and sisters

I was deeply moved by this story which I found extremely impactful and inspiring. I’m encouraged that even in the face of adversity, we can count on God to be our refuge and strength, a very present help in time of trouble.

This story was so inspiring! Petr you are truly doing God’s work by spreading the Gospel even though your trials. I couldn’t imagine going through half the things Petr went through, & then to not lose Faith is simple Amazing. Thank you Petr for sharing your story.

Gods Hands

Gods hands in his life although he could not see it stood out to me. This is a proof to me that God knows my trials and afflictions, and has a purpose for putting me through them. Also, Gods bigger picture is to have me focus on others-not me. I praise, my God.

He suffered as few in the west ever will

A remarkable story of one innocent man’s story of unimaginable hardship and the faithfulness of God. I felt almost as if I was with him in those prisons: enduring the abuse of the ISIS inmates, being lied to by guards and abused for the slightest infractions, but sharing the gospel of hope whenever opportunity came. Truly inspiring and a revealing look at how God works and uses the worst situations to draw people to him.

Could I do what Petr did, I don't think so. But, with God all things are possible.

This book is a challenging book for believers

This book is a very encouraging and challenging book for any true believer . the book speak about a type of Christianity that is foreign to the American church experience. where Christian's aren't over preoccupied fighting for freedom of religion- but boldly live the principles of Christianity, religious freedom or not . where Christians are willing to suffer for being able to share Christ without any constitutions to protect them . its contrast shows us how religious freedom instead of producing and aggressive and bold Christianity, has produce religious wimps!

Humbled

God requires great suffering from some of his people while we in the west live in ease. How often we fail to remember the prisoners as if in prison with them. A wonderful story of the grace of God in great difficulty!

Encouraging and amazing story

I loved hearing Petr’s amazing account of his imprisonment and gaining of a deeper understanding of Jesus and what persecution means for the believer. It gives me encouragement that, if I am ever called upon to suffer for Christ, there is a peace and joy that passes all understanding and a relationship with our Lord that only those who pass through that valley can comprehend.

An amazing testimony of one man's struggle against Satanic attack at the hands of Islamists and Sudan. Inspirational how he loved his enemies and found his calling to serve others while he suffered.
